Flu

OK, maybe I am stupid, but I don't really believe in the vaccine.  And it is because I kind of know how they come up with it.  They collect the strains of the virus from the previous season and base their vaccine for the next season. The virus is smart, it gets genetically modified between seasons, and comes back as a different variety for which the vaccine does not offer coverage.

Sometimes people are somewhat covered, sometimes not so much.  This year, if we were to believe the communicates we get through the media, one of the strains offered just 35% coverage. Arizona (I guess is one of the downfalls of the beautiful weather) is the most impacted this year.

Everyone is sick at work; I am hearing some people were sick for 4 weeks this season.  Hubby got sick last weekend, I keep telling him to stay in bed and drink lots of fluids instead of going for long walks, but he does what he thinks is best!!!

For a week now, I am disinfecting every surface, every chance I get, but of course it is airborne.  The one I wanted to really protect was mom.  I gave her the shot recommended for people over 85, which offers the most coverage, and so far so good.  But I got it   Not so bad, no fever, just muscle aches, cough, chills, headaches, and feeling yuck!

If you can still get the vaccine, get it if you did not get the flu, I will next season.

For now I'll spend much of my day in bed, and not looking forward for tomorrow when I have workers to replace all the windows to the house.  I am excited about the outcome, not the work or having the whole house aerated for many hours tomorrow.  Don't get me wrong, it is not cold outside , it's rather nice, but I still get the chills.
