Made my Day

I picked up my teenaged granddaughter this morning and now I'm down in the basement office this afternoon keeping a low profile.  My wife and ex-wife are hosting a baby shower for my oldest sons wife. It must be going well I can hear the cackling and laughter down here.  Before heading down to my afternoon hiding spot my granddaughter said thank you out of the blue and asked,  why me,  Grandma Joyce (wife) and Grandma Jan were friends and why do we do things together.  The only thing I could think of to say is that they both had big hearts, at that she hugged me and said so do you.  That made my day and I realize  I am lucky / blessed  I owe this day and the ones to come because I quit smoking I have 2 granddaughters and a grandson on the way in December. My youngest granddaughter never met my son as he passed 4 months before she was born. The picture is from almost 4 years ago as I don't have a picture of them together  I try to learn from the hurt in my life and toss it away and I hang on to all the good this world has given me as long as possible. As far as my ex-wife she has been part of the family since she had our oldest son we just didn't workout  and I am glad her and Joyce get along I learned quickly not to answer any question that starts with "What do you think" when they are together     Just sharing as it's lonely in the basement They have better saved some snacks and cake                        Autumn and Skylar
