The Yellow Finger

The recent alphabet game had me smiling and laughing out loud. This is a game of GRATITUDE. This is where people list something as it relates to what they are thankful for regarding being a nonsmoker. The letter "Y" resulted in the response from jonescarp.aka.dale.Jan_2007 , "I am thankful for... No More Yellow Finger." It cracked me up!

But besides being funny, it's actually true. I'm 13 days into my QUIT and I look down and I no longer have a yellow-tinged index finger nail. I put it up to my nose... nope, no smell of cigarette anymore either.

Then I realized the next time I get my teeth cleaned they will not collect any more stain. What is that like? I won't have to be scraping the little telltale tobacco stains off my front teeth anymore! My dentist has been bugging me to quit forever. I can't wait to tell him and the girls in his office that I really, really, really don't smoke anymore.

Someone recently celebrated being able to check off "No" to the question, "Do You Smoke?" on a Drs. appt. intake paperwork. I have NEVER been able to do that. Actually, wait. I lied. I have checked that box, because I didn't want to hear a lecture from anyone - and it wasn't my PCP paperwork!

So, today I am grateful for noticing I no longer have a yellow finger, for this group for pointing that out in a brilliant way (LOL), and for the mini realization that I am, for the first time in 47 years, taking true care of myself and my health from my teeth to my fingers and toes! And it feels great!
