Self-Congratulations

I went to an outdoor concert on Thursday. My cousin-in-law (is that a thing?) lives in the village, so I drove to her house and we walked the few blocks to the venue. Now, she walks her dogs every single day so I figured she was more in shape than I am, since I'm quite well known for my laziness. About halfway there my legs were complaining a little bit but otherwise I was fine. She, on the other hand, was wheezing and clearly out of breath. Oh did I mention she's a smoker?

She knows I quit a year and half ago and she knows I have this great online community and she knows, she knows, she knows. But she does not know.  How could she know how good it feels to not get winded after a short walk? She has no idea that everything smells great, too. She may never know.

But I know, and I'm glad, and I feel good, and knowing how good I feel is a great way to keep myself free from nicotine.

Every now and then I come on here and blog about how good it is and it reminds me how good it is, and maybe it reminds you, too. So let's congratulate ourselves for that knowledge and for acting on it and for keeping that stuff away from our faces.

Keep on keeping on!

I became nicotine-free on Christmas Day 2017. That's what I use as my quit date. I had smoked cigarettes for 45 years, then vaped Juuls for a few months before quitting cold turkey when I used up my supply of pods. I am a retired widow, living in Upstate NY.
