I hardly look at the numbers anymore, so when I chanced to see them today I was pleasantly surprised at this nice number, 525. It's about a year and a half, which isn't all that much when you think about how long we smoked.  But I'll take it!  Today I celebrate 525 Days of Freedom from Addiction.

Every day builds on the last. Same for every week, every month, or if you're brand new, every minute.  Addiction is like having a ball and chain on your leg, but you're so used to it you don't know how to walk normally anymore. It takes time to regain your balance.  Or maybe it's like wearing the wrong glasses for years and then suddenly you don't anymore and everything looks weird.

Fortunately, here at Become an Ex there are lots of helping hands reaching out when we totter around flailing blindly.  When you can't figure things out, an elder can help get you grounded.  When you think you're going to fall, someone can point you to something to hold onto.

I became nicotine-free on Christmas Day 2017. That's what I use as my quit date. I had smoked cigarettes for 45 years, then vaped Juuls for a few months before quitting cold turkey when I used up my supply of pods. I am a retired widow, living in Upstate NY.
