My daughter is a genius. I was wondering out loud via our video chat that even though I paid off a lot of stuff and have money in the bank now due to the sale of the house, I still feel this low hum of anxiety. At times it's like somehow it'll all get taken away from me as a huge mistake, or I feel like I always did when I lived there. Is the sump pump okay? Should I call the lawn guy?
As I described this anxiety, she suddenly had that light bulb going off look and she said, "This reminds me of when you first quit smoking."
What?
"When you quit smoking you talked about how nicotine affects all the systems in your body and it takes time to figure out how to deal with things without it. Now you have to figure out how to deal without worrying about money or the house."
Wow. That's amazing. No wonder I've been craving a cigarette the past couple of days! So then I said, "Even when all your dreams come true, you still have to deal with it!"
I'm a genius, too.
