Quit Day 12

I’ve been 12 days without cigs and about 1/2 that time without NRT. Am so relieved to be spared the fixation on nicotine. Today I only thought about smoking/felt the craving for nicotine one time. Of course there have been normal stressful situations over the past few days. In times past I would have looked to nicotine to “help” me manage and navigate these life situations.  No more. Again, what a relief.

About the Author
I am a 55 year old health care professional and have considered myself a non smoker my entire adult life. I was a runner (and smoked), yogi, walker, exerciser, clean food advocate, etc. But smoked secretly anyway. It is the nicotine I’m addicted to, not the habit. Quitting nicotine makes me feel so uncomfortable and disoriented. Have used patches and lozenges. Patches kept me awake at night so became addicted to lozenges years ago when quitting. Am now back in the same predicament. Quit again today and am back on lozenges.
