Where Will the 2018 EX Reunion take place?

Where and when is the next EX reunion?      Going to start packing (and losing weight!!!!)  I missed the last 2 and do NOT want to miss the next one.

And The City of New Orleans Amtrak runs from Chicago.....just sayin'. I love New Orleans! I wouldn't be opposed to the Gulf either since I have family there. If anyone was interested in renting a house I might be able to get some help there.  My stepmom has connections in real estate.

My 2 cents is that I totally agree with Pops -- I think the purpose of EX weekends is to spend time together in our large group without pressuring anyone to join in if they don't want to.  Now, it also occurs to me that EX 1 and 4 were in Las Vegas; EX 3 was in Nashville and EX 5 was in Virginia Beach (and I can't remember where EX 2 was).  We should be cognizant of giving folks who can't take really long car trips or flights the opportunity to go to one closer to their home.  I believe San Diego was mentioned when the decision was made about VB last year, and it would be a chance for our California contingent to find it more feasible to join.  Or a city like Chicago that's in the middle might do that.  These are just initial thoughts, though.

I have what seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I feel REALLY strongly about it, so I'll state my case now (and try to keep my mouth shut until the real discussion about the location for EX6 begins.)

I feel that the core members of this site, (meaning those who are the ELDEST of the "Elders") deserve to have an EX gathering held in a city where they could, at least ONCE, easily attend.  There are some very important Elders that live on the West Coast.  And we have never seriously considered the West Coast.

We have held this amazing gathering ONLY TWICE west of the Mississippi.  Both of those times have been in Las Vegas, which is, in my humble opinion, a daunting place to ask newly-minted ex-smokers to solidify their commitment.

I think that @Pops is correct in earlier statements that no EXer who has ever attended an Ex gathering, regardless of its location, has EVER gone back to smoking.  If that's true, once you attend one of these amazing gatherings, you won't be surprised about that.  Getting together, face-to-face, after feeling like you've gotten to know these online friends so closely?  Well, it's like meeting old friends that you just haven't seen in years.  The hugs, the laughs, the serious sharing...I simply can't emphasize how we realize, once we spend real-life time together, how much we all realize that these friendships are REAL and LASTING and SO MEANINGFUL.

Again, I digress (as usual, sorry).  The purpose of my comment is to ask if we could PLEASE consider holding EX6 on the West Coast this year?  There may not be as many EXers on the West Coast.  But maybe there ARE.  Maybe it only seems like there aren't because the populations are not as concentrated?  Why shouldn't the EXers in Colorado, Arizona, North Dakota, California, Washington, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma have an EX gathering on their side of our great country??

I'm going to go even further out on a limb here: Dale DESERVES to be a part of one of these gatherings.  He has been the most solid supporter here on EX for years.  He has been here longer than ANY EXer.  He has given so much to all of us.  His hometown of Oceanside, CA, is only a short, beautiful, 45-minute, $15 train ride from San Diego.  Dale cannot travel far because of his ankle/foot injury limitations. I have gotten to spend time with Dale on many of my San Diego layovers by taking that easy train ride up to Oceanside.  He is an amazing human being and he gives SO much to all of us here on EX.  Wouldn't most of you value the opportunity to spend time with him?  Yup, his jokes are sometimes kinda questionable (sorry, Dale, xxxooo).   I acknowledge that San Diego is not a major airport hub.  But we don't always have to pick a vacation hub (Las Vegas, Nashville, Orlando) as our destination.

And Dale is not the only EXer on the West Coast that deserves the opportunity to participate in our next gathering.  Let's expand this year.  Let's pick a location that will include EXers from the beautiful Pacific Coast.

Oh.  One more little thing.  My Beloved manages a great oceanfront resort in Oregon.  He might be able to network in order to find us a great place in either San Diego or Oceanside.  Or...at his own resort in Rockaway Beach, Oregon.  I'll buy Dale's train ticket!

Please just think about all this.  We have a lot of time before the serious decisions need to be made next autumn.  My final thought:  EX6 should include Dale.

Your thoughts, please???

SkyGirl‌ I think we should have it at Dale's place (JonesCarpeDiem‌).  Hoggie would be a great entertainer.  I have no preference as long as my health and my wallet cooperate.  I would travel to the ends of the earth if I could!

Love you,

Ellen
