Give and get support around quitting

Back with my tail between my legs...

First week, did great! Day 10, still trucking. Day 13- haha, gotcha. I'm not here to make any excuses or have anybody tell me it's ok. What I really need is a good kick square in the arse! I want to get out of this! I'm sick and tired of letting that little monster control me. I'm supposed to be stronger than this. So, for my fellow friends who have suffered the relapse - how do you get back on the path to being free from nicotine, while you're feeling guilty & beating yourself up about giving in to your addiction? Criticism is welcome, as long as it is HELPFUL. I'm trying to identify the best way for me to be free.

Good morning, and welcome back....I say welcome back as if you were here....however, I sort of think Jackie is on to some real truth in her comment....I would like to suggest that you give us a little more of your time...we really don't have any anterior motives...we just want to help....another member suffered a similar setback and I commented to her...see below....I recognize that we are all unique, however, the addiction is very much the same with all of us....try to look for what you might think would work for you and employ those measures....be well & feel free to reach out to me anytime.....

Okay (struck on purpose), let me start off by letting you know that this beating yourself up, and saying you are weak....well that simply ain't going to fly with me....STOP with the negativity!  You are a special human being with wonderful aspirations to be healthy and survive without being a victim of cancer....that is reason enough to celebrate your decision and be "proud  of who you ARE!"

As for the being angry that you aren't under the carport smoking in the rain....well another viewpoint would be to be in awe of how much extra time you are now going to have inside, or out....doing things that you enjoy doing.  Being productive.  Cooking inside and simply being a healthier individual as a direct result of the decision to NOT smoke anymore.  We need to learn that we are NOT sacrificing anything of value by not smoking...Instead, we are gaining so much more of a better and healthier lifestyle.  Concentrate on the positive side of this ledger....and stay away from thinking about how it used to be good....you know as well as any of us....it NEVER was that good.  That is the nicotine addict in you that is telling you that "lie."  Don't buy into it.  You are doing great, just hold on, the urges will soon dissipate to nothing more than a distant memory.

I invite you to read a little something that I put together last month that seems to help others....try taking a short read of https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/newbie-quitters/blog/2017/06/05/how-cleaned-up-are-your-to...  I hope that you can feel free to express emotions and call out for HELP anytime you feel the need.  Feel free to shoot me a direct message across the bow, I will respond as soon as I read it...(I'm usually monitoring this site quite often.

Note: this was ten days ago....

xoxoxo Pops with 410 DOF!  Let's get after this culprit of a demon & get on with some good living....freedom is such a beautiful thing to have....and YOU deserve it as well.....

one most important thing is get right back on the quitting train.  Make a note of why you lit up on day 13, what was it that caused you to think you needed a cigarette to save the day.  The first 30 days you have peaks and valleys.  Some days are easy and other days you are ripping your hair out.  You have a lot of things going on in your body right now repairing itself from smoking.  Most of all your brain is royally ticked off at you because you're not feeding the beast.  the more you don't feed it, the easier it becomes then you play the memory game.  You spent a lot of years living life around smoking, associated with smoking.  I lit up when I first woke up and didn't put it out until I finally went to bed.  Visit my page, JonesCarpeDiem‌ page, https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/conversations/blog/2017/05/07/two-kinds-of-quitting?sr=...‌ by Chuck who has some amazing articles.  If you need to, go back over the identify your trigger section and look them over and also the section about what I will do instead or replace it.  There's also /blogs/Maggie_quit_8-1-2010-blog/2012/03/19/100-things-to-do-instead-of-smoking?sr=search&searchId=5...‌ to give you some ideas.  This can be done.  You need to have a game plan, a strategy in place.  Addiction/dependence/whatever is going to trick you every chance it gets.  But hey, it was our go-to for years for when we were lonely, upset, angry, bored.  It was our Dr. Feelgood.  We believed it held all the power.  It was the answer to everything.  Funny thing is, it's the biggest lie we ever told ourselves

fedupwithunfit   Okay, now get that tail out from between your legs and wag it proudly to reassure yourself.  I so agree with JACKIE1-25-15‌ that it is important to stay close to the community.  I came here first thing in the morning and last thing before I went to bed.  Reading how others were doing and getting support from people at all stages of their quits helped me to keep my quit in today. I still come here every day unless there is a very good reason why I can't.  I have not smoked in over three years, I credit this site with keeping me "smober."  Be a part of NOT smoking, it helps.  You CAN do this, one day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time.  We all have to start at the beginning and just keep on going.  It is DOABLE, just ask MarilynH‌ every single day when she blogs to start our days off!  Pledge every day, ride the freedom train.  You CAN do this.

Thank you for your courage and for helping me to stay quit no matter what with you... One thing at a time ... You have the answer in you cuz you followed it by ACTION... You came right back and BLOG BLOG BLOG... so all could love you by sharing our experience of using nicotine AGAIN... I did over and over quitting here there NEVER stayed STOPPED... Until I prayed and confessed... Please take what helps and let go of the rest... To be helpful is MY only aim... I accepted Christ Jesus as my Lord and Savoir in November 5, 1986...I smoked for 38 YEARS... I TRIED the gum candy I nicotine  products...panel meetings  of people on the weekend with quitters telling their stories..I quit for 3 days use nicotine again then on Jan 6, 2011... I was down to using 2-3 cigs a day .... I smoked 50 cigs a day... This is MY story.. It happened to ME.. I came to this site reading the blogs still smoking 2-3 cigs a day ... Exercising... Reading bible and going to watched videos at whyquit.com with Joel.. Next thing I am prideful selfish and  I didn't want ANYONE... To have the same quit day as me.. This guy did so I used nicotine over that YES  I AM A NICOTINE ADDICT and ACTIVE NICOTINE USERS USE.... I wouldn't quit... I had to surrender and admit complete defeat .... So I finally dropped to my knees  on my kitchen floor and I PRAYED... dear Jesus if you don't take these cigarettes from me I will smoke them till I drop dead in Jesus name amen... Went to bed woke up the next day with a COLD TURKEY quit on Jan 6, 2011 NO CRAVINGS NOTHING and I have been coming here every since to share MY experience strength and hope with ANY WHOSOEVER... Thank you for your kindness in asking ME to share...just educate yourself on your nicotine addiction that's what I was told... Bryons early death video at whyquit.com saved MY LIFE... I wrote a thank note to his family for sharing the love and truth about using nicotine... So please remember BLOG BLOG BLOG before you use nicotine over YOU. Gentle hug.

Hi----Glad you are back. Quitting is doable........but it takes some hard work. I don't know you---so maybe none of this is relevant but:

>Don't think something will quit "for" you. This is your quit.....you can use aids which may help you over some rough spots and we will all be here for support if you reach out. We will help you as much as we can....but we can't quit for you and no one and nothing can.

>DO THE READINGS! A lot of times, people think..."I've quit 100 times.....I don't need to read anything about nicotine or quitting". Yes, you do.

>Stay close to the site...read, blog, comment. It just helps.......it really does.

>Really think about smoking and what it does for you. I think you will come to realize, as we all have, that it does nothing for you. As you get further and further away from smoking....you begin to really be embarrassed that you did this STUPID THING for so long. Wasted money, wasted time, wasted health. Over................nothing.

>Always remember this can be done. When you get to low points where you think you have to give in....just remember.....don't! Most craves...no matter how bad....are over in a few minutes. Just "surf " through them and hang on! We all did this and we are NO DIFFERENT from you.

Stay Strong

Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya (Back here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Hi Fedupwithunfit, I believe in You. I hope you believe in You, too!
