Help with separation plan for triggers.

I have been smoking on and off now for a long time. I smoke for all sorts of reasons. I work outdoors as a mail carrier and I smoke in between delivering mail. I am trying to come up with a separation plan to break my smoking habits, especially at work. In the past I have quit when I had to such as being pregnant or getting pneumonia but I have gone back. Now, I am wanting to quit for health and financial reasons but I am having a hard time and getting anxiety over it. Any suggestions? Help please!

I have tried patches and gum. This addiction I am facing seems stronger to me. I am also around many cig smokers that hasn't helped. I just need to face this demon head on.

If you do the reading, you will come to understand that nicotine addiction is only a small part of the smoking addiction.  No product is going to quit FOR you.  The most work is required to learn to live your life without the crutch of smoking.  We smoked when we were happy, sad, lonely, celebratory. depressed, after every meal, between every task, before bed, when we got up, with our coffee, watching a sunrise, going out with friends, on work breaks.   There are SO many associations and triggers to get past that it takes diligence and effort on our part to change things to reduce as many of these as we can, and learn NEW ways of coping.

You CAN do this.  It takes education, preparation, planning and commitment.  It is a JOB unto itself.  But the pay for a job well done is FREEDOM - and we who have quit will tell you it is well worth it!
