About the groups

I have been here for 2 years now and I rarely go to the groups that I have joined I find the format confusing .Now that we have a place to ask questions ( I like this place  ! ) here goes .

First : How do you find  the beginning of the days discussion quickly and easily ?

Second: Why does one discussion go on for years ? If you choose another discussion will anyone see it ? Will Ex'ers get aggravated if someone decises to  begIn a new discussion ?  I was going to reply to Love Yourself and when I hit reply to original discussion it said reply to Smorgy so i just felt confused and left the group .

Can I move this to https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/community/community-help?sr=search&searchId=ecd7bba4-cc15-4a9d-a9...‌? It makes more sense to have it there since it is about the community itself.

Mark: Depends if you are looking in threaded view or flat view in your preferences. Flat will give you a chronological view of comments from oldest to newest. You can then go and scroll up the page looking to see the first timestamp for today's date.  If you want to go to the last read comment from your previous visit. You'll have to look more at your inbox if you are following the discussion.  If you're not participating then the only way you'll see it is if you go to the last page of comments and work yourself backwards.  If you're looking at threaded view, the last comment could be on any page of comments if there are multiple pages. I like chronological  view sometimes if people use the "quote" feature but if they don't it can be a lot of clicking around to get context of what someone is replying to.  Threaded view is a lot better for understanding the context but you may miss some comments if a person has commented on page 2 and there are 15 pages.

Second: Why does one discussion go on for years ?

Mark: Some do. Some don't.

If you choose another discussion will anyone see it ?

Mark: You mean start a new discussion?  Or find a similar discussion that is more recent and hasn't gone on for years?

Will Ex'ers get aggravated if someone decises to  begIn a new discussion ?

Mark: I recommend joining a discussion in progress before starting a new one. This avoids clutter and duplicate posts. It also invites people who had joined in the conversation to rejoin and continue where things left off. It creates an audience right off the bat rather than hoping someone looks and decides to respond. Posts with titles that are too vague or don't capture the topic of the content often don't get as much responses as posts that are more specific and inviting.

I was going to reply to Love Yourself and when I hit reply to original discussion it said reply to Smorgy so i just felt confused and left the group .

Mark: smorgy8513 created https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/message/32408-love-yourself?sr=search&searchId=38564dee-96d6-4b0a...‌. So if you reply to original discussion you would be replying to her.  If you hit the reply button for someone else's comment then you are replying to them.

Hopefully this answered everything a little bit better.
