Getting used to a new school

When the new platform here started, I was a bit annoyed. I liked "the old ex". I thought-Why mess with a good thing?... If it ain't broke don't fix. Why try to reinvent the wheel?. But now that I'm getting used to it here. it's really not so bad. I kind of like it. I still kind of miss the old place. I guess it's a sentimental thing because that was the place that I turned to day in and day out that helped me to quit.  This is like getting used to a new school. You can still learn a lot and it's got new fangled stuff and you still miss the old school, but  I'm starting to see the benefits of the new one more clearly.

I have to agree. I was a bit surprised when I first got here and saw the new platform. But now I can see how it's a better platform because it gives us more options to use, if we want them. Doesn't mean we have to use them but they're there if we want them. After a few questions were answered for me, I was fine.

It's kind of funny in a way. We all come here to create change and we all feared change when we first thought of quitting. That same kind of fear of the unknown hits us every time we must try something new. But in the end we all learned that in most cases, change can be good.

I also agree Jim. There is no reason not to miss the old and to remember it fondly. The problems arise when you absolutely refuse to accept the change. Because the old saying is very true....the only constant in life is change. There are good things happening here at the "new school" and I hope many more people will join this community and quit smoking with us.

Stay Strong.

Thank you for this great analogy! We hope that as time goes by, that feeling of comfort and familiarity will grow again just as you settle into a new school. But we're also very aware that having so many options, while great, has led to the site feeling "less intimate" for some. Want to mention to everyone feeling this way that we are having a call next week to discuss ideas to get that intimacy again, so we encourage everyone to join us: https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/events/1010-lets-talk-about-humanizing-our-ex-community-by-phone

If you do run into any issues or questions as you navigate the "new" site, please let Mark‌ or any of us at EX know and we'll be happy to provide any guidance we can! Thanks again.

I think the new site has a lot more to offer.  I do miss some things from the old site - but we are adjusting to our new school!  Have a good week-end!

That's exactly how I felt too but I'm adjusting to the platform and got quite a bit figured out and that's good.....

I so agree, I had one meltdown after another when I first came here.  I was so comfortable on the old EX. It was like slipping my pajamas on at the end of the day.  I have learned a lot and I am really glad that I didn't run away like I was tempted to do.  I like the new school.
