Posting in conversations and blogs simultaneously?

I just realized that I commented on a blog or a conversation that appeared in the opposite area later and, at first, I wondered if I actually posted it OR if my response was removed for some reason.  Is it advisable to cross post?  Isn't that confusing? Okay, it confuses ME!

People aren't getting the idea that a blog is a blog and a discussion is a discussion no matter where it's published.  They are double posting things thinking their blog gets lost and doesn't appear on their profile if it's published like under a certain group or it's published under conversations.  For instance, if you go to my page (profile) and you see the featured content is published under Newbie quitters, but if you go to the home page, it's listed under blogs and it's shown on my profile as a blog.  they're not stuck in one place anymore.  They're able to float around.  Think of groups as knowledge bases.  Places where people go if they want information on a specific thing, like COPD

I think it really is a preference - folks are welcome to post in one area or both. Possibly some are not sure where they appear so they are posting in both or they want to make sure others see it, so they are posting in both. I think for you as a commenter, there is no need to post twice since the person will be getting a notification regardless of where they post. My assumption is that as each person develops their preferred method of communication, the double-posting will become less and less moving forward.

If anyone is unsure whether what they wrote actually has been posted b/c they don't "appear" in your profile, you can always check by going to "Content" tab in your profile and clicking on "All content" - that will allow you to see what has been posted from what you wrote, regardless of whether it is a blog or a discussion.

If you are referring to me asking about the Chatzy session in both a question and on Ellen's status update page - did not mean to confuse anyone.  I believe that I asked the question first in discussions and then saw that Ellen had an active "Status Update" going and asked there also.  Wasn't really intentional - just kind of happened.......I was curious of the outcome of the session, that is all.

she commented on something someone posted as a blog (published as their own personal blog category) and then posted it again as a discussion (published under the conversation category) i.e. Summer Shoe Pledge and also Summer Shoe Pledge.  See TristanNani

I thought the thingy on the 9th was about "humanizing" the site - trying to recapture some of the closeness that people feel they have lost.  Maybe I misunderstood.

I could be wrong, but I think this has a lot to do with it.  If I'm wrong, then I'll bow out of joining in on the discussion.  I think the closeness is still here.  I think everyone can be seen by just click on Latest Updates.  I think there's just a general confusion because there's so many places to post, publish, etc. that people are getting lost in translation.  Terms are getting misconstrued.  I know everyone is missing the message boards and really the status updates can replace that, but sometimes they're hard to see if other things populate after it.

I think the discussion is to humanize the site but if people are confused, it is also to help with that, it is a chance to clear up questions about the site with the people who are able to be more helpful being available in real time.  I wish I could be there because I would like to hear other peoples' questions and see what everyone is feeling.
