Give and get support around quitting

Blogging .. right way or a wrong way on Ex..... open for discussion

My own opinion is  it should be whatever is on ones mind,  if they have the need to share, or vent ,or ask for help, or tell their  story or just  share what is going on in there life or in there quit . It is how i have gotten to know other Ex'ers .

I don't think there should be rules or comparisons . Sometimes a blog is written so well and is so inspiring that it is  shared to the Best of Ex . I don't think others should feel  intimidated if they cannot "compete " with the Best .

I did write many more blogs in my early weeks and months because I needed that daily communication and support. Now I mainly read and comment on the blogs .

Yep.  I just feel there is no write or wrong.  It is what you embrace and works for you. It is all a learning process.

Thanks. I'll try that! I always believe that change is good, so long as it builds on the past for improvement. Will continue to learn and in the end, I'm sure I'll love it!

Hi there!

Perhaps an option to sort posts chronologically, taking the popularity out of the mix would be useful. I'd hate to think that someone new to the site falls through the cracks because no one is aware of their new posts. Since I'm so new to the new format, I don't know if it's me that just doesn't understand the right place to go or if people used to the site are having the same problem, but that's my two cents, for whatever that's worth -:)

In Mark‌'s recent blog post /blogs/Mark-blog/2017/02/16/your-feedback-delivered?sr=search&searchId=a5876085-9e26-4168-a268-df7a3...‌, he wrote about how the "Get the Latest Updates" tile on the homepage takes you to all content on the site, ordered by the date and time it was originally created. Hope this helps!

Thanks! Tried it out and it works great! Guess I just need to keep learning the site.

Bonnie - everyone should feel free to express themselves and I believe they do.  If I counted correctly, there were at least 30 new blog, discussion,, or questions posted today.  I do not have the time to respond to each and every one of these - but people are participating here - and participation is up!  I have an open invitation to help anyone learn how to get around this site.  No one has taken me up on the offer  but the offer still stands.

I don't think Mark moves things around without the authors permission.....at least that has been my experience. I had posted a request for thoughts and prayers for someone. Mark made a suggestion that it might make sense to put posts such as these in one of the groups and try to get that group(prayer group) to be where people go to look for anyone who is ill or hurting. I think its a GREAT idea as there were many times I would miss a request for prayers and know nothing about it because I had not gone back and read all blogs I missed. Mark asked.....he did not insist. Mark indicated the blog did not have to move at all. He was just thinking this might be a way to go. This is why we have a site Admin....... they know what might work and be a good fit for the site. I think you can blog on anything you want in blogs and anything you want in conversations and anything you want anywhere. When Mark suggests more people might read it in a different location....I don't think he means for popularity but rather for just what he said......he wants newbies and others to have more access to what you wrote.

Now please notice............I said......"I think", "my experience", "a suggestion", "might be a way to go"......I have no special insight into Mark's mind and I don't have any further information than what he has freely written here for all of us many, many times. He suggests things for the good of the overall site management. He's very polite, tries to be helpful and really wants things to work well here. If anyone has any reason to think I am incorrect in this way of thinking......please let me know. It is just what has been my experience and what is my opinion. Blog on!!!!!

I most definitely concur with the folks that feel this new  format  is confusing. Even having a question answered, I am often unable to figure it out.

It's not that I am unfamiliar with interactive computer programs either. I have been involved with different chat rooms etc. for well over 20 years!

Speaking one's heart/mind on here doesn't seem to go over  too well. If it is the slightest bit negative one does feel the opprobrium of the group. My quit has been extremely difficult for me. Even my doctor believes that the stress of me quitting triggered the fill-blown flare up of autoimmunity. Please note: I did not say CAUSED the autoimmunity, it just caused the intense flare-up with made the autoimmunity to go fully active. So, yes, many times my comments were not full of the joy so common in here. They were not thankful of having found the new yellow brick road. They were not then and still are not. But people don't like that. I kind of figured perhaps there were other newbies that might feel that despair and show them that even with all the struggles, I was still not smoking.

Rant? Vent? I', sure. So if this gets moved or relegated to the trash bin, that's fine.

Enjoy your day!

Hugs & Blessings

I'm so sorry AbasKid ,we most definitely should not be making you or anyone feel stressed because there's nothing more important than your precious ongoing beautiful quit which is the # 1 most important thing there is. You need to blog and or comment your true feelings and emotions about how your quit is going and feel comfortable in doing so, here's a humongous caring cyber hug just for you, keep stacking up those splendiforous Smoke Free days my friend and fellow Exer.

It better not get relegated to the trash bin and I don't believe it will Sara  ! Honesty is the best policy I don't think it helps anyone to be c fake about there quit experience just to please others . Sure some ppl find it easier then others, every quit is different even for the same individual .  I can think back to my first attempt in 1989 which I did cold turkey it was the hardest thing i ever did the first month I cried every night and I am not a crier ! This time was much easier for me .

I think that is very insightful of your MD and I have wondered the same thing about my heart issue last summer because it was not related to Plaque it was a stress induced occurence ( cardiomyopathy ) Many of us ,especially older quitters ,relied  heavily on our smoking addition and habit to control our emotions and to this day two years after quitting I still have the hardest time when I am upset or angry about something .
