Inviting all the newbies

You are all invited to stop by Welcome to the EX Café     Wednesday 02.08.2017‌.

There you can meet some of our elders (people who have quit 1 year or more), ask questions, grab a cup of coffee, just say Hi or share a smile!  There will always be someone to greet you, help you if you need help, or guide you to the right place on the site, or the right resource to help your quit stay strong and healthy!

If you feel you have not been heard after posting in Blogs or Conversations, you can drop a line at the Café, use the @ followed by your post name or your user name, and we will come find you, and try our best to help!

We really hope to see you soon, and be of service to you!

Thank you so much for this Daniela! I keep feeling that while we are all enjoying our explorations of the new site and the fun of the new Cafe that we are forgetting the newbies. This is great!

Thank you, our team of servers at the Café were thinking of a way to advertise for the newbies, I had some time today, so please let me know if I should target other places?  I published in Conversations and Blogs thinking these are the most frequented places!

I sent out personal invitations to some to ride the train.  It does seem Sootie‌ that comments on new members blogs have increased somewhat but some of the "old faithfuls" who were always there with good advise and reading links are not welcoming as much - I just don't understand why.

I think everyone is still trying to find their way around the site, and it takes some time, and sometimes we get lost responding some and get sidetracked doing something else.  It happened to me sometimes...

Yes---I agree. Everyone is just finding their way. Look how long it took me to realize the new members were at the bottom of the home page. AND---remember, those people I am reaching out to are not "really" new members.....they may not stay and they may not even participate. It may just have been a search they were doing. But---I try anyway. My concern was not that there were no responses to blogs but rather if the newbies even knew where to come or where to introduce themselves. If I were new,the blogs (as they are defined here) sound like they are to be a personal journal or something for myself......not where I could find y'all! And why do I want to write to myself

Of course, I could be wrong since I did not join as  new member...I got "migrated". Maybe I should ask Mark what the process is when someone joins......or.....am I a dinosaur? Does everyone who joins an online site simply know where to go and what to do?

Anyway-----any attempts we make to reach out to new people with the Cafe, blogs, personal messages is a positive step.

Thanks Susan, should I publish the same invite in any other place?  I just posted in Blogs and Conversations.

Hard to say - I really think that we are scattered.  I just posed a question in the cafe to try and see where we all go when we log in.  If we could get some answers to that, it might help us figure out where to best post.  I know this is "cleaner" than the other site, but home base is harder to define.

If that issue was resolved, then I think we could easily find new members.

Eyes peeled and a joint effort to locate them is probably our best chance.  I know that had you guys not reacted so quickly to my first blog I might have moved on - and, I might not have been so successful in my quit.  I think it is critical to reach out and find new members, and I commend you guys for putting forth the effort.
