Day 2 and bored

Jump to solution

I just want to know what people do instead of smoking.  Today I realized i wasted almost two hours a day when I smoked.  Anybody have any ideas to break the boredom?

The rocky road is my favorite with the streaks of marshmallow cream.

First find out why you're bored.  Then find out why you think smoking was a cure for your boredom.  If you have nothing to do in your life but sit and smoke a cigarette, then part of your homework is to find something ELSE to do instead of that.  Eating is not one of the more creative choices. Origami?  How 'about taking pictures of things.  People, buildings, children, trees.  Do it with your cell phone.  Write a poem.  Draw how a craving feels to you.  The worst thing you can do is just sit there and be bored.  In order to change our cigarette-thinking thoughts, we have to engage our brains in something else.  Could be something taxing like learning a new language or a new skill, or something that fascinates us deeply.  If you like to cook, find a new recipe for example.  That's part of our homework.  Experiment.  You may find something delightful and discover a talent you never knew you had.  Go for it!

That is a great idea.  I think I am bored because I just graduated college and I have my NCLEX to do which I have been avoiding.  I think learning a new language may be the key and when i save my cigarette money I can buy rosetta stone.  Thank you for your great advice!

Exercise of any kind is always a good idea, too ---- taking a walk,  marching in place or doing a few jumping jacks will get you that bit of dopamine you are missing, and help burn the calories you are getting from that ice cream!

Here is a list of mine to keep yourself busy. I hope you find something on this list you like to do.

@kenvan Hi kenvan! Happy first day! It is tough but can be done! If you feel comfortable, post a blog and introduce yourself. You'll get a lot of good advice. My advice is to read the Allen Carr book, The Easy Way. I do have the link but you can google it or someone here will have it.
