Let's Get Moving Part 3

Jump to solution

'The original idea was to "get moving" at least 4 times a week, staying accountable to each other.  Post your accomplishments in the comments. This is the original blog link if you would like to clarify the guidelines

Let's Get Moving Challenge - EX Community.   Any activity counts, as long as you get off your butt and get your heart pumping.  Who knows, maybe we'll lose a little weight or a couple of inches in the meantime.  I hope placing it in discussions this time will work better than a blog post where there were so many entries and becomes harder to locate.  Let's see if we can keep it on the board often and easy to find.

I believe we got sidetracked when I suggested doing other challenges and those challenges were not conducive to everyone. My fault. Lesson learned.  So I am hoping we can get back to doing what "you" do instead of a specific routine.  Got it?.   In the previous post, there were a lot of comments to go through to come up with this list of who participated.  Hopefully, it will catch on again.  Of course, sometimes we got off topic which can happen.  This post really kept me motivated and we had a lot of fun while learning a lot from each other with over 2519 comments on the first blog and 1072 Let's Get Moving 2018 - EX Community  on second blog comments. So let's Get Moving Part 3!

Sootie Do you own a neck turtle (I know they have another name - but they are a 10" circle of fleece that goes around your neck); you can pull it up over your nose and mouth and easily breath through it when it's really cold.  For some reason when I have that on, I FEEL warmer all over - even if I don't pull it up - better even than a turtleneck.  I also usually take one of those chemical hand warmers and move it between mittens to keep my fingers toasty.  As long as the wind isn't blowing, I can walk in most temperatures................

.....just some tips I've learmed

Hope you can get out tomorrow - I KNOW you will feel better if you do!

Thanks Nancy---yes, I know what you mean....have had them in the past but don't think I could locate one now....will order from Amazon. I do always get outside most days with the kids......but it is not the same as a long walk by yourself.

Dropping in...  Tried plunging the toilet, snaking the toilet, no luck.  Fortunately we got a plumbing/septic guy we  used four years ago to come by.  Said he'd come over in a couple hours and did.  Amazing!  And thank goodness.  Had a load of laundry in the tub to do, dishwasher full ... had to do my morning business in a potty chair (which I'd purchased several years ago at a thrift shop - GOOD THING TO HAVE AROUND IF YOU HAVE THE SPACE) really GROSS to have to haul it out to the woods to empty (but at least we HAVE woods in which to empty it.  Hey - the cows poop in the pasture!)  Up and down stairs with that a couple of times.  Husband attempted to use it and got a bit of a shock as I had filled it a little too high with water and, let's just say our anatomies are different (hadn't thought of that!) and....I did some brief digging through wet muddy grass/soil to try to uncover the cement clean-out top of the septic, got down to where it was  but couldn't find the metal loop with which you can lift it off and I just thought, I'm too old for this!  Especially before my first cup of coffee of the day.   Plumber came.  Septic had roots around the outlet valve which was preventing the flow.  He smashed through the roots, water flowed YAY! and all - we thought  - was fine.  Toilet flushes no problem.  Plumber leaves.  Then I went into the shower to clean it from the overflow, turned on the water....and it wouldn't go down...  sigh.  Off to find the flat plunger in the garage, then plunged THAT, cleared it, did some wiping up on the floor... and tomorrow I'll tackle fixing the glass shower door (which needs a new wheel put on which arrived a couple of days ago), then I can clean the shower properly and we'll start calling around to find someone to fix the broiler part of our oven.  Home ownership is grand!  At least I moved some today.  A total roller coaster of a day.  Problem still a problem.  Problem fixed.  Problem not fixed.  Problem fixed.  And not a single though of a cigarette!

Oh wow Guilia , you had quite the day . Crazy !

Getting out last night even though risky and a dental , it boosted my mood . I can already feel the difference . We aren't meant to be alone .

I am pretty sure I'll get some excersise in today .. last night we had freezing rain , today expecting heavy snow . So I doubt I will shovel because of the ice but we will see . I won't be sitting for sure . I could feel the weakness yesterday in my legs walking the mall to my Drs . We gotta keep using our muskles!

Giulia its amazing what we can go through now and not worry about ourselves picking up a cigarette . Proud of you .

You talking about prta potties brought me back to the old days before we had plumbing . It's one thing I can be grateful for this morning , another is for all of you walking journey after journey with me .

Giulia Your day sounds like my day with the USPS website:  /blogs/Youngatheart.7.4.12-blog/2021/01/09/its-no-wonder-we-are-tempted-a-rant but yours was MUCH more inconvenient, gross, and physically demanding!  YUCK!!!!  And all that clean-up - YUCK!  Sorry!  Sounds like you DID move - but my walk was a LOT more fun!!!!

Isn't it nice that neither of us thought of smoking?  I guess we are THERE!

Hoping today is a better one for you!

Heard high winds today too , let ya know tonight if we escaped it or we are stuck in the middle of it .
