Let's Get Moving Part 3

Jump to solution

'The original idea was to "get moving" at least 4 times a week, staying accountable to each other.  Post your accomplishments in the comments. This is the original blog link if you would like to clarify the guidelines

Let's Get Moving Challenge - EX Community.   Any activity counts, as long as you get off your butt and get your heart pumping.  Who knows, maybe we'll lose a little weight or a couple of inches in the meantime.  I hope placing it in discussions this time will work better than a blog post where there were so many entries and becomes harder to locate.  Let's see if we can keep it on the board often and easy to find.

I believe we got sidetracked when I suggested doing other challenges and those challenges were not conducive to everyone. My fault. Lesson learned.  So I am hoping we can get back to doing what "you" do instead of a specific routine.  Got it?.   In the previous post, there were a lot of comments to go through to come up with this list of who participated.  Hopefully, it will catch on again.  Of course, sometimes we got off topic which can happen.  This post really kept me motivated and we had a lot of fun while learning a lot from each other with over 2519 comments on the first blog and 1072 Let's Get Moving 2018 - EX Community  on second blog comments. So let's Get Moving Part 3!

Giulia I was worrying about the paint still being tacky - but when I Googled it, it states to allow 1-2 days drying time, so I am feeling better about it!  It DOES look good - but I had not planned on not walking on that area for that long.  It's how I get to my utility room and out my back door!  Nothing to do but cope - so I will need to find things I can do without walking on it!  Turns out to be a minor glitch - and we both know I won't be smoking over it.  No WAY am I giving up THREE commas!!!

Just wanted to add this link to Maki's response to Ellen on another blog.  It's so empowering!    https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/people/Maki/blog/2020/09/20/the-reward?commentID=1040174#comment-...

Did a little work in the garden this evening and got a short walk in before it got dark. I am NOT used to it getting dark so early, when did that happen?!

smiling_accountant      I swear it takes MONTHS for it to stay light later, and MINUTES for daylight to disappear in the Fall.  I know for a fact that it isn't equal!  I hate it, too!  I usually go out after dinner and fill the birdbaths in my woodland garden, and now have to do it BEFORE dinner!  BOOOOOO!

Well, the painting has slowed down.  My calves were screaming holy mackerel. I don't know if it was climbing the ladder or the new stationary bike video.  I did not get much sleep last night due to a family crisis.  In fact I have only had a few hours.  I spent most of the day trying to encourage a family member.  This evening I made an attempt to run coaxial cable in the attic for my new EXercise area.  What a trip.  I did not realize where I making holes was a very low area in the attic.  Golly gee that body got stuck up there had to twist and turn to get out. I will have to repair the overhead sheetrock.  No I did not fall through.  Anyway that was my EXercise.  I went shopping and purchase a puzzle to work on. I am late with dinner so I will bid you all a good night.  Thank you all for sharing.  As Red Skeleton would say God bless.

Today I pruned my final bush - I swear that thing is almost a town on its own!!!  My arms look like I got in a fight with a cat and very much lost.  I filled an entire lawn and leaf bag with its trimmings, and could hardly lift it.  I had to squeeze a stepladder in between the branches to get those  pesky 18" straight to the sky outgrowths!

My mudroom floor finally dried (had NO idea concrete paint would take two days to dry!!) - and I NEEDED to get to my utility room to keep trucking - so I did a tiny bit of stepping on that floor when it was just a tiny bit sticky.....and now that it has dried, I can see footprints......       So - guess it will need another coat..............double          .  I should have walked on newspaper (she figures out NOW!).  So - tomorrow late afternoon I will give it another coat and hope it dries in less than two days.  I need access to the utility room to get to my washer, and tools, and vacuums and..................hard to houseclean and remember ALL that I need!  Also have some trim to paint in there before I do the floor - hope to get to that first thing tomorrow.  Fall is just TOOO busy for me!

But, to be honest, the list helps me not to miss swimming so much.

Hope everybody is getting busy in the cooler, drier weather - and NOT overdoing!!!

Nancy Nancy Nancy my stomach aches from laughing. I see so much of myself in you.  That stubbornness!  At least we don't have to hear about the figgin' bush pruning any more do we???  HAHAHA.  That's done with, right?!!!  on the floor.  Because I SO see myself in you.  I'm laughing with and at you, as I laugh with and at myself.  Mud room floor - So you could't wait until it fully dried and now there are your footprints still visible.  Just think of yourself as a continuous  STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in your own house!  Hey - some people keep raccoon footprints in the concrete around their pools or whatever... just saying.  You're your own star.  Actually, you're OUR Star.

I just rode off into my own mind today on the way  to a new chiropractor realizing I must LIKE to be late to appointments - because I always am and have been.  Hello?  Thank you, spirit.  First you have to recognize the idiocy.  THEN you can begin to correct it.  A beautiful little awakening.  Hope it sticks.

Meanwhile back at the ranch -  I rode 9 miles today on my bike.  A somewhat easier route.  Cars passing by - some with a finger-raised hello, some - nothing.  Some giving you a wide berth, some going much too fast.  The cows, wide in girth munching, paying no attention as you pass by.  Or the others, younger, that scatter in fear.  The birds gathering overhead in huge flocks, almost murmuring, the farmers in the fields bailing the hay, glad I wore my windbreaker as the cooler areas of the trek were... cooler .... and the glorious round red ball of the sun off to my right sinking below the treeline as I entered the last lap, the half mile back to my house, stopping to water the dry plants on the way down the driveway from the two big plastic barrels I had lugged up from the barn...dipping the gallon plastic container in, scooping up the squiggling mosquito larvae, offering a bit sustenance to the wishful plantings I had put there earlier in the season....  Arriving replete in spirit, and strong in leg until...  the next bit of reality moved me into - the next bit of reality.

Giulia That tide sounds idyllic - except for THOSE drivers.  I had a young, blonde ponytailed thing run within a foot of me (on the sidewalk)  when I was doing that last bush.........huffing and puffing and maybe blowing those virus droplets ALL over my air!  If I get sick after staying in this house for almost 7 months, I AM going to find her and give it to HER - I swear. This bush is located next to the sidewalk (squirrel planted).   I am very careful and continue to look both ways pretty often when I work on it, and had looked probably a minute before she got to me, but she was running at a pretty fast pace, so I didn't see her.  There are disrespectful people EVERYWHERE.

Welp - pruning IS done, but so not the floor! You will STILL need to hear about THAT!   I know my OCD will not allow those footprints - but will wait until later today to put another coat on so it can start to dry overnight.  Knowing it will take ANOTHER two days or so to dry, I will bring in everything (hopefully) I will need from the utility room before I start!  Didn't have any idea it would take so long when I did the first coat!  In the meantime, I will do some trim touch-up in there while it's still cleared out, and maybe get some curtains washed and out today so I have a room to do while I wait.

I had a wondrous 75 year old (at least) Red Maple die this spring.  It had some dead branches last Fall and I paid to have it fertilized and a root treatment done, but guess I was too late.  We lost a huge number of big, old trees in our village this year  - root rot from so much rain last year.  I bet we lost at least half of the 100+ year old oaks.  Anyway, I have somebody coming to take it down on Thursday, so will have to man-proof its surrounds before then, - bring in chairs and a table I have on a brick patio it shaded, and some flamingo statues I have in that garden.  My heart hurts that it is gone.

Best finish up on the site and get after it!

Hope everybody has a wondrous, moving and shaking day!

I think your footprints add character YAH . But I get it , done it before too .  Nice ride Giulia .

My day moving is a walk at clinic if I can . It's the day after treatment headache hangover . Grateful however for the energy I will have starting Wednesday again whoop ... so I'll be planning something  for then .

I have ordered cabbages to make cabbage rolls . It is mindless effort once prep is done . I will be moving from the counter to the kitchen table to the freezer hopefully many times once I begin .

I will do the prep tonight , then going into mass production tomorrow if able , or tonight while watching AGT if I'm feeling better . One thing I know for sure is that I am am grateful for this day.

Oops, I did it again!

A beautiful comment this morning, on Jackie's almost falling through the hole, Giulia's verbal painting while on bicycle, Nancy's praise God finished the last  pruning, and Maki's cabbage rolls and our common food habits, and never posted it, oh well, no one else's fault...

But I needed to tell you all, and particularly YoungAtHeart‌, the wet suit had been broken in today! OMG, rarely have I been so un-coordinated in the the water!  Making huge waves, not sure what trying to accomplish, it did not feel like exercise, and swallowing a lot of chlorinated water!  Might take me a a while till I put it back on; feels as I rather deal with the colder water than wearing that!  Yes, you were right, I could feel the water entering through the handholes, but also at the neck.  And the biggest mistake?  Trying to adjust the suit while in the water, never again that; what a feeling of cold running up the spine, while adjusting the pants underneath the jacket.  And I think the jacket should get in the pants, not over them.

However I did not do this...
