Give and get support around quitting

I failed.

You could say that I’m just another entry in the one puff files.

Tuesday the 15th was birthday- 46 days free and I decided to treat myself with “just one” vape. Six days later it’s been one every single day. I failed.

I’m back to the day ones and days threes... and all the pain I endured to get to day 46. I can’t believe I’m here again.

Aim for vapebriety, not number of days. Yes, there are milestones--a way to celebrate, but the strongest way to stay smober is to walk the walk one day at a time, rather than focus on getting days. Addiction is overcome one day at a time, in tiny but significant actions of moving forward--often by doing exactly the opposite of what you'd like to do, wish to do or intend to do.

Allow yourself to imagine what you do just for today matters the most.

Welcome back.

Ex is here for you 24/7

You failed when you STOP trying to quit the addiction. You have to learn that nicotine is an evil drug and it will creep back in when you let your guard down. Shake yourself off, get your head back in the game. I failed over 10 times after a 2 1/2 year blown quit as i wasn't fully aware, nicotine is Evil. It does nothing good for us. Sounds like a pitch but NOPE(Not one puff ever) is how we all quit forever. Nov I'll be 5 years, if i can do it you can do it

I got hooked quick vaping, people say its a healthier alt to smoking. To me it was the same S--t.

Nicotine free is the goal

You have learned an important lesson.  There is NO SUCH THING as just one puff or just one cigarette to an addict.  It will ALWAYS, maybe not right away but ALWAYS, lead you back to being a full-time addict.  It's how addiction works.

Now, pull up those Big Girls Panties and let us help you make this your final, last, penultimate quit.

Let us know how we can help!

You can do this...it really does get easier, one day at a time.  By the way, Happy Birthday, sorry it was such a disappointment.  I cannot tell you how many times I lost quits...all for just one puff.  Not One Puff Ever HAD to be my mantra.  We are here to help you in any way that we can.  Get right back to that quit...

Really ? Failed ? I don't think so . You made a bad choice , failed , not .

What you've learned is one puff leads to more . You've said that .... so good on ya .

Now you know you have to do something different besides vaping .... you will get it .

I know you will and we at Ex are patient while you learn what works for you and how to do that for yourself .

Each of us is different but only one rule applies to quitting that's the same for all of us  . You can't smoke or vape to be smoke or vapes free .

Vaping is not a treat or a reward for anything .  See it for what it is .. it's addiction ok . It gets millions of us, until we see the truth , face the truth , and see the reality.

How could you've made your day more special ? It's not what others do to make our day special . Under any circumstance you can make celebrations great and just the way you like them . No one can take away joy but ourselves .

So .. no lecture really , no judgement . I believe you will figure this out for you and I believe you have the strength to continue on .... we are walking with you .

So sorry, but I wouldn't call it a failure at all. Just made a mistake, but I am happy to see you here again and trying again so soon. Much better than going full blown back to vaping and not trying to quit for months or years. Write down what was really hard to deal with in those 46 days and how this time you can be ready to deal with those triggers.

I know how you feel there. I relapsed at least 4 times before I successfully quit 7 and half years ago. I am having almost the same trouble with alcohol and I reckon my past struggles might be apart of it.

But the main thing is that you're back and we're here to help!

Great advice and support here and I can't add much more except to say we have ALL been where you are at.  This site is an incredible support system.  Use it. And be committed to going through as many day ones as you need to to get to the final quit.  Most of us have lessons to learn and lose several quits before we finally make that final jump.  It is so worth the effort. Keep getting back up no matter how many times it takes.  You've got this.  You might consider doing the daily pledge if you're not doing it already.  It really helped me in the begining to set up my day.

I’ve been there recently and now I’m back up to 32 days. It’s such a slippery slope. There’s no treating ourselves to just one.

Someone on this group told me that no time you put in is wasted. Be gentle with yourself. It’s a learning experience. You’ve got this!
