Pulmonary Embolism

This week was a freaky week. Went to my weekly exercise class & when I got home I coughed up blood. I’ve been smoke free for a couple weeks by this time. I get the cough thing checked out same day & they tell me I have the beginning stages of pneumonia & a small blood clot in my lung which is the source of the blood. Now I feel like I’ve been scared straight with not smoking. I’m worried beyond all belief & will be taking blood thinners for a while along with meds for pneumonia. Anyone else had  PE in their stop smoking journey?

Hi Leet3415 ... sometimes the only thing that helps us quit smoking is a “wake up” call...I have not had a PE, but two brain aneurysm’s during my journey quit...one is fixed, one is not...I quit smoking before my brain aneurysm, but started back twice ... I am now on my third and last quit and determined and committed to keeping this quit.  I hope you are quitting and will keep the quit especially with all you have going on health wise.  Might I suggest, you read at My EX Plan | BecomeAnEX Next, read the blogs and learn what you can about addiction and lastly, keep close to the support site for help.  You can do this...we are here for you...Colleen 654 DOF

That's so scary.  So glad your quit smoking.  Smoking can certainly contribute to a PE.  Congrats on your continued success.

Take care.
