Give and get support around quitting

Vaping has become my everyday ritual

Hello all! I’m pretty young and I started vaping 4 years ago. I didn’t think I was addicted until I bought my own and it has become something I crave constantly. I need some help trying to replace this habit. I have been trying to quit for the past year and ever time I throw one out, I end up buying one the next day. Please give me some tips on how I can get over this. Thanks!

Tips and tricks work but they can't do the whole job. You are getting over an addiction and this means that you will need to take quitting as a one day at a time adventure. Ex is here to support you, to help you keep it one day at a time, to learn to say no one day at a time.

There is no quick fix to dependency--but you can unlearn the associations that go along with nicotine addiction by and eventually care less and less about getting your fix.

You can learn to handle the cravings-- eventually they go away. Changing your thinking about addiction is also important--that too is one day at a time, one step at a time.

This IS an addiction and that is so much bigger than a habit.  You need to identify your triggers and plan to do something OTHER than vaping should one occur.  Recovery from addiction is a journey and not an event.  You cannot allow yourself to go buy a new device just because your addiction is telling you to...if we all bought our preferred form of nicotine when we were craving, this site would be empty.  I got rid of everything that was smoking related and adopted the mantra NOPE, Not One Puff Ever.  It really helped me and I smoked for many years.  I have now been smoke free for over 6 1/2 years.  You have gotten some really good advice above, take it, prepare for your quit and then DO IT.

Welcome to EX,

Ellen

Welcome to the community you can and will be successful one precious day at a time or hour minute or even a second at a time deep breaths and believe in yourself because we believe in you, stay close and please read the links suggested above me and keep reading everything you can because there's a wealth of information right here on this site to strengthen your resolve to quit and remain quit it's going to take time to relearn life BUT thankfully with commitment and perseverance it's absolutely Doable and totally worth it to be Free.....
