7 Weeks Stay at Home

Another Good Morning to you all. Today is my 7th week home; 7 weeks without seeing Mom, 7 weeks since my business was closed and 7 weeks that all of us had our lives turned upside down.  I'm hoping everyone is coping with this mess and continuing on the wonderful journey of NOPE.  Hard as it may be I'm surprised that I haven't heard from the Nico-Demon urging me to smoke.  If I'm not smoking now I never will again.  I passed the test.

So what's new.  Not a thing.  I rarely venture out because so many people refuse to wear a mask and ignore so many of the guidelines; especially distancing and that pisses me off to no end. Common Sense went out the window.  I go to my salon twice a week to check on things and it's sad to see an empty salon.  Our Governor began to reopen most of Florida but 3 counties, Palm Beach, Broward and Dade did not make the Phase 1 list. I'm in Palm Beach county.  I do not see my salon opening for another month and yet I continue to pay my landlord rent and pay my bills.  I had to swallow my pride and start a go-fund-me page on Facebook and some clients and friends donated.  Don't get me started on the government who have done so little for small businesses. They truly let us down.

My days are Long.  I walk the dog, watch TV and take walks or a bike ride. 7 days a week.  Like the rest of you I'm Over it all and want my life back.  I want to see Mom and I want, I want, I want...….  Other than that, it could be a lot worse and for so many it is.  Healthcare workers are exhausted and at their breaking point and my heart goes out to them.  Prayer helps.

Love ya all

So glad you were able to reopen, I can only guess at how busy you must be and all of the new regulations are certainly putting quite a strain on you but thank goodness that you are observing them.

Hi all

Work has been Crazy since reopening and now we’re calming down a bit. Still not able to visit mom and 3 months without being with her has taken its toll on her. Her mind dementia is off the charts now and she barely speaks on the phone. We still have another month or so before we can take her out and our fear is she’s not going to be the mom from 3 months ago . This is so hard.
I don’t know how it is by many of you but my area is on a curfew due to the protests going on. I fully support the positive protesting and my heart breaks for all who have been affected by the horrible killing of George Floyd. I applaud the people marching and fighting for Change.

Hope you’re all well and staying strong.

I hear optimism in your words in spite of the situations in your life, Ralph: indications you are a surivor!! On another note, sorry to hear of your Mom's progressive dementia. And I hear your concerns about her state of mind. Save up some good stories from the past to remind her of for when you see her next. Folks with dementia/ Alzheimers maintain past memories even when they are not in synch with the present. God bless you, your Mom and the family~

Hi Ralph, glad you're open and busy.  Our salons just open today.  I'm not rushing out there after playing it safe all this time.  I made an appointment for the end of the month and will see what's happening then.  I've only been  in a handful of outside facilities since this began.  I'm in support of the demonstrators also, but do wonder about the spread of the virus with the close proximity, with many demonstrators and police not wearing masks, and the tear gas causing respiratory responses.   We've actually had businesses in more populated areas of the city that were ready to open, but had to board up their businesses.   Complicated times.

I really do feel bad for those who can't visit their family members.  I can only image the worry it must cause.

Take care.

I thought when we reopened that it was going to be a little slow but the clients saw all the steps I took to ensure their safety. Each station is separated by a shower curtain to help maintaining distancing. Looks like a car wash LOL.

l have actually been really pleased with the number of protestors wearing masks, obviously, social distancing is not being practiced. I have not really heard much about the virus since the protests started. I, too, am concerned about the spread getting a boost. I have never stayed home for this long in my life. Not particularly enjoying it.

elvan I've been meaning to answer you about the masks.  I agree that many are wearing them. I've been watching more closely  lately and seems it depends on where the protest is and more weren't wearing them early on when the confrontations  broke out.  I also see people walking with them around there neck.  Hopefully we weren't get a resurgence.

Sorry to say not enough masks here in NJ. I’m afraid to go for a walk because I pass so many w/o them. My husband and I have ours lowered to our neck. Whenever we see people we cover up. I wish more listened to Governor Cuomo who says “ I wear my mask for you. You need to wear a mask for me”. Tried to walk around the lake today. Too many people w/o masks I had to come home. I need to get out safely see people and get fresh air. If only we could all really care about each other. “What a wonderful world it would be”.

Masks Do Help. When we reopened we were among the lowest in the country for cases/deaths. 7 weeks later we are becoming the epicenter for the virus with daily cases in the thousands of new cases.  As our numbers began to rise our governor did nothing and now it's the 20-40 year old age group getting it.  While they have less of a chance of dying they are bringing it home to their families and we are seeing hospitals beginning to fill up again.  Miami made Masks mandatory but Palm Beach County did not.  Stay away from Florida as it is now the new NY.  We are screwed Again.

Been watching the news.   It's on the rise again in several states.   I suspect we're going being staying home again - although I still don't go out much.  I've been to a few stores in the past two weeks, but definitely avoiding crowds.  Unfortunately there are people that only think of themselves.
