I am not sure what you are asking??  It is a good idea to read others' blogs here to find their experiences.  Quitting smoking is a process, not an event - so your ultimate freedom from addiction may not be the same as someone else's, though.   Here is a blog that outlines what to expect: What To Expect In The First Four Months.

Hope this answers your question!

A ) The moment you stop smoking all together .

Let me explain .

From the day you get rid of all your cigs it's then a process as Young at heart mentioned . Nicotine will be out of your body relatively quickly but you may find that healing the emotional aspect that kept you bonded will take time , effort and work on your part to get over .  So there are imo physical craves , emotional craves ,  and wants . How long it takes to be quit for good is an individual journey. It comes down to when we make the decision to not smoke no matter what.

Congrats today on choosing the best thing you can do for yourself.

If you are in it to win it , it won't matter how long it takes , because you want to be quit forever . Your reasons are good ones to stay the course . Staying quit , just for today everyday will give you your forever quit .

Is this a quiz? You'll quit altogether once you want to quit altogether.

For me? One day, after a planning period of a few months.

Do you have a plan?

If I was asking the question you asked...I know what I'd mean by asking it: when I quit, when will I know that I can trust myself not to go back.

The answer to quitting is and has been the same for a long time now--you quit one day at a time. Not anyone of us can control tomorrow, next month, next year. Learning to deal with quitting one day at a time is a big enough job to take on.

Welcome to Ex. You now have a community that will stick with you for as long as you wish it to.

I have 600 days quit tomorrow.  I smoked for 50 years...  like chimney.  On August 11, 2019 I literally begged for help (I am a Christian) and my prayer was answered.  I took it one day at a time in the beginning.  However, I got very active on the old Quitnet website.  Having support from other ex-smokers is so important, in my humble opinion.  Attitude is very important too.  I have COPD so when you cannot breathe, nothing else matters!  (Quote from the American Lung Assn.)

Read every post about quitting that you can.  Ask for help when you need it.  I feel complete now without a cigarette and I understand much more about the addiction to Nicotine now.  I always told myself “I could quit any time I wanted to...” which was not true at all.

If anyone wants a quit buddy, I’m your woman!  LOL  I like helping others quit!  I want to “give back” for this wonderful miracle that I received!

Have a great smoke free day!  Rosemary
