Give and get support around quitting
I went to our Cookeville Community Center today to drop off a small box of canned goods. They really didn't want to take it, but because it was small enough to fit, they made an exception.
I sent in an email to helpnow@putnamcountytn.gov which said: "I have a 16" chainsaw and could come and help cut up some of the smaller debris (if there is any). Let me know if you want my help. Phone XXXXXX. Last I heard no more volunteers were needed. How beautiful is THAT!"
I didn't tell them I was 70 years old. Figured they might not accept my offer! lol
This was was the response:
I responded earlier with how kindly I was treated when we were stationed at a base in North Carolina. Southern hospitality is real and palpable. So glad it is in the forefront of the recovery there.

On the news last night they showed a column of volunteers lined up to help yesterday morning. There were hundreds and hundreds of them.
Makes my heart swell!
Yesterday the news said 4000 people showed up just in the Donelson area of Nashville.
The Tennessee Titans showed up in a bus in North Nashville.
I didn't realize until yesterday that the agriculture area of Tennessee State University was destroyed. They found most of the animals. Apparently it's baby season & they showed the cutest baby goat that made it.
I didn't see many in Cookeville when they showed the presidential visit but I imagine secret service kept many away from it. So glad you saw a bunch of volunteers.
