How long does withdraw last?

Today is day 2 and I’m having such a hard time. How long until the nicotine is out of your system? I get that the mental addiction can take a while but how long until it gets easier ?

Welcome again.   I just responded to your other post.  Here's a guideline:

Nicotine withdrawal symptoms usually reach their peak 2 to 3 days after you quit, and are gone within 1 to 3 months. (1) It takes at least 3 months for your brain chemistry to return to normal after you quit smoking. (2) The last two symptoms to go usually are irritability and low energy.

But remember even though there are many things in common, we're all different.  I had little if any physical withdrawal symptoms (I did use NRT).  Mine was more emotional and lasted a good while.

You're doing great.  It will get easier.  Remind yourself "I don't do that anymore"

Welcome to Ex’s catsalvano

Barb above me gave you good information about withdrawal when quitting smoking.  I wanted to welcome you to the site and suggest you read at My EX Plan | BecomeAnEX to become knowledgeable about the quit.  Also, read here the blogs to learn more about this journey.  Everyone is different when it comes to quitting and feeling good in your non smoking skin...this journey takes work and keeping busy...Keep close to our support site for help.  You can do this.  WE are here to help you.  Drink lots of water to rid that nicotine out...Gotcha in my thoughts Colleen 435 DOF

Your question might be the most asked question by quitters. I know I wondered when the hell I was going to feel better--believe in my quit, care about things other than quitting.

Quitting is hard work, but you chose to quit for your own good reasons and they have not changed. Ex is here to offer you support everyday and that can help make it easier right off the bat!!! Blog as often as you wish, read, comment. Share. Keep connecting. And you might have more resources right in your own community to hook up with in addition to Ex. Hospitals run programs, non profits run quit centers, your doctor (especially if they understand the quit process), and there might be quit meetings near you.

You can also get daily texts from Ex, and other sources (google text quit support).

Congratulations on your start and two days won. You are not alone.

Hello- Those are two different questions......

When is the nicotine out of your system? Generally, it is believed that in about three days after you quit, nicotine leaves your system. Nicotine doesn't have much "staying power" ------that's why we barely finish a cigarette when we want another and another and another.

Now----your second question...when does it get easier? Sorry, but I'll be honest.........not in three days. It takes some time to start to live your "new normal. It can be tough....it can be hard. Tell yourself that and be ready for it. Because It WILL GET EASIER and then.....it will get WONDERFUL! Hang in there for the wonderful....it is so worth it.

Meanwhile.....welcome to EX...we are all here for each other.

Hey you just have to get through 5 minutes at a time , you'll be happy you did it not grab a smoke , you'll be able to say  I did it again, turn another one down, The nicotine is out of your system in a couple of days, the habit of thinking of having one is in your mind, that's the part you have to tell yourself you don't  smoke anymore and only about 48 secants later you ll be thinking about something else and proud of yourself but after a little time few days or weeks the 36 times you said NO will reduce to just 9 times to say NO and feel much that it went this long without one. Its been 57 days for me and I can't believe it ,It almost feels easy for me now, but still on the patch and knowing I can say I don't need one cig to make it through the day
