Can't use patches

I have been using the patches for 6 days now and everything has been going great. Well today had to go to sirgeon to discuss my upcoming back surgery. I told hom I had quit smoking which they had said I needed to do before I could have surgery. I told hom I was us9ng the patch. He said while it is good you are quitting , the nicotine is the reason they want you to quit before surgery. It slows down the healing process. So now I have to stop using the patch and go cold turkey. Now I am nervous I won't be able to do it. Help!

The nicotine is out of your system three days after you stop putting it in, then it's your body adjusting to life without it.  There are withdrawals, but if you think of it like the flu as something you just have to get past, it will be much easier.  Read all you can here about dealing with the issues you might encounter.  Some have little or no physical symptoms, so it may not be as bad as you fear.  Here are some things you MIGHT expect:  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/best-of-ex/blog/2018/01/04/early-withdrawal-symptoms.  If you accept that you might be uncomfortable for a few weeks and work on solutions to any discomfort you might experience, you will get through it with flying colors  - and you will be DONE with the drug withdrawal for good.

CAN be done; lots of folks here quit what we call "Smart Turkey."  I hope some of them might chime in here!
