WaynenMary‌ They could be hosted in Celebrations & Events as they have been.  We have a couple people who have access to create posts in that "place". Since you're wanting to host I can get you up to speed on this. If it gets to be a daily thing with multiple people(10-15+) interested in hosting, perhaps we can have a separate group.

We're a little different than QuitNet as the community they built was largely "homegrown" and so they had a lot of flexibility to customize and integrate. Amazing but incredibly expensive to create and maintain.  Average number of cigs smoked a day isn't mandatory and we assume 20/day if people don't specifically indicate in their profile. Also their quit date is dependent on what they enter in their My Quit Plan and doesn't sync immediately when they update it until they logout of the community so sometimes the quit stats can get inaccurate.

Yes, please share the link to the QuitNet bonfires. I'd love to read before it disappears into the ether.

ShawnP‌ I get what you're saying as far as them losing their charm but we won't know for sure unless we try. We have a lot of new faces from QuitNet here so perhaps it will catch on as a more regular thing. I love new ideas and am already thinking about how we can help those QuitNet members who are used to receiving a Daily Pledge reminder to receive that reminder daily. It would be optional and those who want to receive it will receive it and those who don't, wont.

Mark‌ this is some of the opening to the nightly bonfire on the Q. There is a link to Mary and her story as to why she started the bonfire.

t

This wonderful Bonfire tradition is carried on in the memory of our very own Q-Angel, She started the bonfire as a place to get together and toss away your unsmoked cigarettes and anything else that may be bothering you. As Mary became too weak to host, the BBBs (Bonfire Brigade Babes & Bros.) took over tending Mary’s fire. To read Mary Our World Class Chefs have prepared a special buffet for tonight's festivities. Remember everything is calorie free so indulge in everything including All The Chocolate. The Tiki Bar has been spruced up and so have our hot tubs and spa. So be sure to ask for a special cocktail and our fluffiest towels as you enjoy the new amenities. Sven and the gang are here to make wishes come true....nothing naughty Don't forget about the butterfly and tranquility gardens or the dolphin pools and the Gazebo. These old favorites are still here for your enjoyment. Just follow the signs saying path to relaxation and fun.

***Newbies and soon to be Quitsters!!! A Special Welcome to you! Those Newbie cigarettes are highly prized fuel for The Bonfire! They burn the brightest!!! ***

Methods of hauling your unsmoked cigarettes: 1 to 500....tall kitchen trash bags

501 to 999....black yard size trash bags

1,000 to 9,999....wheelbarrows

10,000 to 49,999....brand new dump truck

50,000 to 99,999....a train 100,000 and over....a barge Please give a SHOUT out if any of you are celebrating a Milestone tonight!!! Everyone loves a celebration. I'll use this special lighter, the only one allowed on Q Island, to light this fire. Wwwwhhhhhoooooooossssssshhhhhhh!!!!!! Woohoo!!!! Please remember Tillie's only request: KEEP IT CLEAN!!!!! The BBB Family.

That's cute. I guess I need a train. Lol. Next goal, a barge

Tillietoiler Is the link you were talking about WaynenMary‌?

QuitNet | 1-4-2020 Bonfire  is a bonfire it seems.

And QuitNet | Bonfire Posts  seems to be collection of Bonfires and QuitNet | Bonfire B. is the account all bonfires are posted under? I see the final tally here: QuitNet | Bonfire Final Tally

i went back in man o steele's posts and wasn't much participation in the weekend bonfires but, a monthly one might work better, especially if it was on the same weekend every month. That way everyone would know exactly when to pop in for it. I do like this.....

Methods of hauling your unsmoked cigarettes: 1 to 500....tall kitchen trash bags

501 to 999....black yard size trash bags

1,000 to 9,999....wheelbarrows

10,000 to 49,999....brand new dump truck

50,000 to 99,999....a train 100,000 and over....a barge

it gives an incentive to everyone participating to get to the next level.

We did them a few times a year.  The one who started them here on this site was man of steele  who passed away some time ago.  That's the history of ours that we kept alive. When we say bonfire, everybody knows this is a big event that lasts a course of 2-3 days depending on the host.  In my opinion, if they were to be done nightly, it would lose the appeal.

There can be a winter bonfire if u want to host it. We are due for one.
