Quitting juul

New here. I’ve been vaping for 8 years. That’s embarrassing. I’ve quit, started, quit and started. I’m so anxious but I need to stop the juul. I need some help. How long with the hardest part be? I’m nervous.

No need for embarrassment at all. Or nervous. Quitting nicotine (in any form) is difficult but totally doable.  I know.  I smoked cigarettes, then vaped using the Juul...I wrote about my quit here:  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/people/AnnetteMM/blog/2019/09/08/how-to-quit-juul-or-vaping-in-ge...

Learn all you can about nicotine addiction, which is what you will be free from.

Everyone's quit story will be different, which includes how long the hardest part will be. One thing I found helpful was to pause and really think about the reasons why I needed to stop (there were plenty). Write them down; post a blog about them here. I felt so much better about my chances to be successful once I realized there was an entire community that understood what I was going through and would be supportive. You're not going through this alone. Be strong, and don't hesitate to reach out if you're struggling.

Hi. I'm hardly an expert as I'm an hour and 45 minutes shy of my 5th day free of JUUL but here is what has gotten me through:

1) I'm using the 21mg patch, I'm not a hero and knew that cold turkey wasn't for me. Even with that the physical withdrawal can be there depending on how much you vaped. i was vaping a pod a day which is much more nicotine.

2) Know that the physical withdrawal is temporary. Use that to guide you through and keep you focused. Just get through through that minute, hour, evening, day.

3) I am obsessed with support. I use the QuitThat! app to track how long it's been, and Smoke Free to see how my health is improving, track my cravings and get support. I am on the r/quittingjuul subreddit and just started reading and participating here. Community is everything! I also have a therapist who I have been talking to and am going to acupuncture. I'm trying ear seeds and whether they work or not, they give me something to do whenever I have a craving (you press on them).

4) I went from hiding my vaping to telling EVERYONE (save for my boss) in my life that I was a vaper and quitting to keep me accountable. I don't want to let them down and frankly, I'd be embarrassed to do so.

5) Read Allen Carr's book EASYWAY. Everyone here recommends it for a reason - it helps you understand the psychology behind what you're doing and change your perspective. i saw my addiction in a whole new light!

6) All the things they say to use when you quit smoking, try them all - try everything! Drink water, snack, exercise, pet your dog, chew on tea tree oil toothpicks, just get up from where you're sitting and apply some moisturizer, text a friend, call your grandma, for goodness sake do ANYTHING but hit the JUUL...and the craving will eventually pass.

I hope this is helpful and let me know how you're doing!
