Welcome Back.  Education is the key to a successful quit!  If you do not educate yourself about nicotine addiction you may continue on a cycle of relapse.   Quitting is hard and a challenge but with a commitment not to take a puff no matter what. Recognize that you are dealing with addiction not so much a habit. You have to change the stinking thinking and relearn your behavior by replacing smoking with other things that are better for you.  Create your freedom with a hobby, exercise, craft or etc.,  Take the time to educate yourself about the addiction to nicotine. Smoking is and will always be a choice.  Chose wisely. I am sorry that you have not been able to be consistent.   I always advise new members to stay close,  Be here, participate, read, study, blog.  Come here BEFORE you smoke.  Take your quit seriously and analyze what caused you to smoke. Make quitting your number one priority.  Have a plan for what to do differently when you have the urge to smoke. Make a vow that you will not smoke if it happens again  It is good that you are starting over.  Start with a commitment that NOPE to yourself no matter what I wish you the very best in recovery.

Welcome to EX, education, support, and commitment will get you through.  I have been quit for over 5 1/2 years now and that is the longest I have been quit since I started smoking at age 17.  I have COPD and I am reminded constantly of the damage smoking did to me.  I, honestly, don't think anything could pull me back to smoking but I will never stop being vigilant about my quit and recognizing how important it is to my life.

You CAN do this, OBVIOUSLY, make a plan and tweak it if you have to and try to figure out why you lost those quits.  Use the mantra from here, NOPE, Not One Puff Ever.  It's really simple to say and to stick with.

I do know why I went back because it's an addiction not a habit, one day I didn't care and I took a cigarette and then another and another then here I am. The thing is even after 20 yrs it can get you back. Funny thing is the day before I smoked wasn't even thinking about it, so advice to all let that moment of destructive thought pass because it will pass. Don't ruin your quit like I did! Bless you all!
