Let's Get Moving Part 3

Jump to solution

'The original idea was to "get moving" at least 4 times a week, staying accountable to each other.  Post your accomplishments in the comments. This is the original blog link if you would like to clarify the guidelines

Let's Get Moving Challenge - EX Community.   Any activity counts, as long as you get off your butt and get your heart pumping.  Who knows, maybe we'll lose a little weight or a couple of inches in the meantime.  I hope placing it in discussions this time will work better than a blog post where there were so many entries and becomes harder to locate.  Let's see if we can keep it on the board often and easy to find.

I believe we got sidetracked when I suggested doing other challenges and those challenges were not conducive to everyone. My fault. Lesson learned.  So I am hoping we can get back to doing what "you" do instead of a specific routine.  Got it?.   In the previous post, there were a lot of comments to go through to come up with this list of who participated.  Hopefully, it will catch on again.  Of course, sometimes we got off topic which can happen.  This post really kept me motivated and we had a lot of fun while learning a lot from each other with over 2519 comments on the first blog and 1072 Let's Get Moving 2018 - EX Community  on second blog comments. So let's Get Moving Part 3!

Correction Jdeering WE are all amazing.

Well except today I didn't move much.   50 minutes doing at home PT on my finger.  Walking around one of those huge "weekend only" malls with all the disparate booths.  Spent an hour cutting basil leaves from our withering row of basil 3' high, and made some pesto.  Hauling out the 100' hose and watering plants (that's actually quite exercising).  Other than that - I THOUGHT about doing a window cleaning or two, but it never happened.  It's still in the 90's here.   I don't bike every day.  For me at 70, I just do it every OTHER day.  Figg'er that's good enough and I don't need to be stupid and OVERDO it, as I so often have done in the past.  Sometimes. even we stubborn ones,  actually DO learn from experience!

Jackie, Sootie - you spur me on.  Thank you!

I did my usual arms and legs lifting weights in PT and then tackled the 8 inch d@mn step a couple of times.  Still hesitant, still terrified. ...now wondering how I might borrow a swiveling bar stool and maybe use that for the two separate steps I have to get up to get in the house. ....hopping  up 8 " on one foot is just mind boggling and not sure I will ever be able to conquer my fear of it....but I will persevere.  They are not going to let me out of here until I can get in the house.  Investigated renting a ramp and all the companies I called had them all rented out except for the one who only rented them monthly for $1100-$1400.   Propelled my wheelchair down and back the 35 ft.  carpeted hall to get outside several times......I guess that counts.

Good morning. Yes, you will persevere  You are a winner.  You will work it out.  One way or the other.  You are going home.  I know it. You own words /blogs/Youngatheart.7.4.12-blog/2019/07/16/persevere-do-whatever-it-takes

FYI

My assigned PT today SOLVED the step problem - no hopping required!!!!    Put the wheelchair (I have one at home) up on the first step - I back up with the walker and sit DOWN in it!!  I use the walker again and my helper moves the chair to the second step.  I sit DOWN on it and turn it and go into the house!!!!!!! If it is too high up on the 8" step, I can get on the exercise step to raise myself high enough!!!   I have to have a helper to do this, but at least I can get home and I will worry about that when I have to get out again...........

I feel SO much better!  I have been losing sleep, thinking they were not going to release me until I could do the hop thing; I just didn't think I was ever going to get over my terror!
