Give and get support around quitting

Fell off the wagon after 4 years :(

So I had to reset my quit date for today after 4 years being smoke free. I picked up again for really no reason at all, boredom I guess. I made a mistake and assumed I could have one and forgot N.O.P.E. I’m really mad at myself that I did not have the strength for just one and within a few weeks I bought a pack, then another. I’m starting over again and I know I can do it. As disappointing as it is, I’ve learned a valuable lesson. I can’t have just one. I also hated it this time around. I smelled bad, had to explain to people that I used to smoke, and realized even more what a waste of money it is. So glad this sir is here to hold me accountable and I’m looking forward to hitting my new milestones again.

It is disappointing that you lost your quit. I wish I knew what to say.  I think in time one can become complacent and confident that they got this without staying connected and coming here when they are tempted. It is hard  to understand that just one so I promise myself not to take the chance to find out.  /blogs/JACKIE1-25-15-blog/2015/10/21/stay-connected?sr=search&searchId=cd2242a1-d73b-48a7-a7f3-bb225...  @stay connected

I guess the weak link in my own smobriety, although I don't dwell on it too much, might be belligerence. For you it was boredom apparently. I know that I cannot have just one. I have no doubt about that, but what I fear is saying, thinking and feeling--I don't care if I smoke. Your experience has inspired me to keep cleaning my own house so to speak. I hope you don't punish yourself for choosing to smoke, and I hope that you regain the trust in yourself to quit and maintain it one day at a time.

I'm so sorry that happened to you-- but I thank you for owning up and sharing because we all need the NOPE reminder and the reason why it's crucial to maintaining a quit, even so many years later. I'm so happy that you came back to take your quit back!

Sorry you lost your quit, but welcome back.   Be proud that you came right back to begin again.  Four years of not smoking is certainly not a waste!
