Off Topic - Beware Scammers

Phone just rang.  "Hello?"  Pause.  "Hello is this Mrs. Bri....? " (pronounced the name wrong).  My antenna is on alert.  "Yes."  Pause.  He asked another question to which I answer a terse "yes."  "I'm calling from Medicare."  Antenna is vibrating now.  He  then said something about my having arthritis.  My brain is sending LOUD warning signals.  It's odd because I just had some xrays taken and found out two days ago that I have severe arthritis.  Coincidence?  Whatever the case it was disturbing.  Brain is churning.  Why would Medicare have that info?  Why would they be calling?  I think for a minute and then say:  "I've never knows Medicare to call."  That's when he hung up.

Then I realized I might have already blown it because I said "Yes."  Which means they might have taped my voice.  That recorded "yes" response can get hackers into accounts over the telephone.

I'm still very disturbed about this "coincidence" of having just been diagnosed with arthritis and this call.  Logic dictates that they might have hacked into the Medicare files and that a lot of people on Medicare have arthritis, so it may have no real connection to my recent xray diagnosis.  However I do have a patient portal set up with the diagnostic place.  And I did log into it to view my xrays.  Disturbing.

Word to the wise.  What your backs - not only with this addiction.

Did you see my post called TONS OF STRESS, Zero Smokes?  I changed all my passwords, froze or cancelled credit cards, put a freeze on my credit reports and made sure I was still a customer of TrueIdentity.  No problems showed up thank god!  Still have my credit freeze on and I'll keep  it that way until I need to get credit or a loan.  You can always contact the FCC with an incident report to make them aware of the scam situation.  The link is:

You can also report scam emails.  Hope this helps.

I did see your blog https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/people/minihorses/blog/2019/05/23/tons-of-stress-zero-smokes  and was horrified.  Because of your blog, I decided to put this up as another reminder of the bad folks out there.  Thanks for the FCC link.

There are complaint forms on the FTC site as well.  Here is that link:

Thanks Giulia for reminding us to be aware.  It is so sad we can't even feel safe to answer a simple phone call anymore.  I got to where if I don't know who it is I just don't answer. I figure if someone wants me they will leave a message..  Sorry about your arthritis diagnosis.  I sure hope the was a coindence call and not a true leak in the system.

We screen ALL calls so if you want to talk to me you'd better leave a message.  It sucks but that's what we have to do in today's world.

Hi G.  I get those calls all the time.  Back braces, hearing aids etc.  I hang up.  My bones are great.  I have exercised vigorously since I was a child.  I did step aerobics for many years.  I walk 30 minutes every day.  I have been doing yoga for 20 years.  I still do it once a week.  Our bones need magnesium and D-3  4000 iu's to 5000 iu's depending on weight.  I also eat citrus everyday and drink green tea everyday.  I think it is not the exercise that causes bones to deteriorate, it is a lack of nutrients. Actually for every 100 mg's of magnesium a day even at my age 72 you can add 1% to your bones.  Our recommended intake is about 400 mg a day.  I have learned these things from an MD who is an expert in Holistic medicine.  Sorry about your arthritis.  Movement helps arthritis.  It lubricates the joints.  A walk can alleviate pain.

Thanks for that, Barbara.  I do take D-3 but only 3000 iu.  Think I'll up that.  And I take Magnesium too (will check the mg level).  And I know that lubricating the joints by moving is a must.  Standing (doing dishes or ironing) is the WORST.  Walking is not my thing, but I am back to biking up and down the gentle hills here in middle TN 7+ miles every other day.  And I hope to get back to step aerobics.  One of my favorite "formal" exercises.  I, like you, have exercised all my life.  But got a bit slowed down after an achilles operation on each side.  Still we PERSEVERE!
