Quitting and hypothyroidism

Anyone here battling changes with this condition since they quit?  I’m now back in the struggle to find a balance again as mine is quite severe.  Makes it very hard to feel much appreciation for quitting.  I don’t feel all the good things most do and that keeps me in the background wishing I could post a YAY, I’m doing it post.

Sorry, this didn't go to you.

Nobody told us about the side effects of quitting smoking.  It's pretty traumatic for some people.  We're pretty close on our quits, so I feel close to what's happening with you..  You have me very worried.   Don't know you insurance situation, but there should certainly be some state assistance.   Stay close  right now!

minihorses‌ An ER has to admit you if you are suicidal.  Finances can be sorted later and probably not charged depending on your income level.

I can't afford to even see a doctor for the specialists I'm supposed to go to so I cancelled those appts. It costs me $400 just to walk into the ER and then I have to pay the doctors, labs, facilities, etc. on top of that.  Welcome to the American medical system...

I'm same as usual. Emotionally defeated big time and physically exhausted.  There is nothing appealing in life and I honestly can't figure out what the h€|| the purpose of living is.  I'm not afraid of death, only the way I may go. For today I'll just do my usual drudge through it.  I am not smoking through any this and really don't want to.  Thanks go to my God for keeping me firm in my quit!

I don't know anything about your financial situation or where you live, but most cities, counties, or states have non-profits that can help.  Are you eligible for Medicaid maybe?

minihorses‌, I admire you for sticking with your Quit.  However, this is purely my opinion and you can toss it.  I just want you to know how serious untreated hypothyroidism can get.  I don’t know anything about bipolar.  I know you are worried about finances, but you need medical help and the ER May prescribe some medication and at least point you towards someone for treatment.  Hospitals can get very creative about payment and there could be the possibility of writing this off.  Just don’t sign the papers regarding that, only the one agreeing to treatment.  Your health is way more important than money.  The medical profession is ethically bound to help you.  I’ve seen patients in there that obviously cannot pay.  Untreated, hypothyroidism can lead to comas.  This isn’t to scare you, just to emphasize this is no small matter you can live without care of.  I wish you the best and hope you seek help.

Thanks Gwen, I did not know that hypothyroidism can cause serious health problems if it goes unchecked.  I've actually tried to get treatment through a hospital and when I said I couldn't sign the financial agreement they wanted a down payment before treatment.  I left in tears.  The hospitals/doctors CAN put a lien on your assets for lack of payment.  I've done the payment plans with the exhorbitant monthly fees attached which put us near bankruptcy again. The hippocratic oath IS to help people BUT health insurance companies tie their hands to provide the treatment they took an oath to protect.  All you get is sent to specialists that really don't do anything either, except collect payment.  No specialist really listens to the problems that aren't in their little cubby hole of medical practice so they pay no mind to them and who knows what affects anything else.  All I know is that I had to call them every other day after waiting the 10 business days from lab draw.  All I got was a med they knew I was allergic to called in to the pharmacy.  Another round of every other day calls to try to get some answers, then had to fight with the insurance company to get the 'new' medicine (name brand) filled.  SOO I've given up on my healthcare. Sooo no more doctors unless I'm half dead or it's my twice annual primary care doc visit for labs and drug refills.

I have a physical next week and I'll wager he doesn't have any test results from the endocrinologist.  Like I said, I cancelled all the other specialist appts. even though I will have to live with the problems I was being sent to them for in the first place.  We pay $700+ a month for medical through my husband's work and we still can't afford to be treated.  Sad but true in today's world.  Besides, the docs are so worried about complying with every minutia detail the government requires that patient care is not the priority anymore. Care is not even a verb anymore.  My advice, don't get sick or hurt ever.  If ya do, cowgirl (or cowboy) up and tough it out.

minihorses‌, I had no idea what you have gone threw.  What baffles me is if you have insurance, and that’s no cheap rate, why you keep being turned away for treatment.  That’s insane!  Have you talked to you insurance company to find out why they take so much money and provide so little?  I’ve run into problems with mine and their rules for being in certain networks or needing name brands on meds, but found solutions tho it meant lots of hoops to jump thru.  I’m just plain astounded!  And so sorry you are in this mess.  More worried about your health as this is serious.
