Cravings

I havent smoked or vaped in a week, I've been trying to occupy my time and my mouth with more coffee, sips of water, some gum ext. Being a former smoker and a recent vaper.. it's hard to find task that doesnt remind you of hitting the vape pen like.. drinking coffee.. listening to music... the little things. I've always been strong minded I felt. I quit cold turkey a week ago and some days.. but the cravings can really play with your head sometimes.

Does anyone have any other methods to resolve cravings or make them not so troublings. I will not falter to having a cigarette or hitting a vape pen but would like to make this time a bit easier

Aswell when do these cravings tend to go away? I quit smoking cigs about 4 years ago and have been vaping ever since. So more or less how long do these cravings  last from vaping.. if anyone has experience in that

Thank you all.. first time poster

Welcome!

I depended on Vicks Vapor Rub the ointment under my nose and I used the inhaler if I didnt want to smell like Vicks, Somehow it killed my craves. I had the blue bottle everywhere. Read Alan Carrs book, its a fast read. Excellent help to me as well. Its called The Easyway to quit smoking. I am also a cold turkey quitter although I never vaped.

Stay near this site and read as much on here as you can, it helps and it helps to stay active in this community. Come here when an urge hits and we will walk you through it  Nearly 5 years for me in September and I have absolutely no desire to smoke now. I never in a million years thought I would ever be free. It is doable!

We probably all have things we favored more.  I liked Sour Patch sour candy and chewing on straws.   Coming to the Ex and reading/posting really helps a craving pass also.

I did not really experience true cravings for cigarettes after I quit. Maybe a few automatic cravings within the first few days. I was determined to quit so I didn't reflect on smoking a cigarette. BUT I did miss my smoking life which I thought WAS my life. Somehow I clung to delusions that I was so much happier as a smoker. I worried that I would never break that deluded thinking. I worried that no matter how much I understood that loving smoking was delusional, I would never get over it. Thank God for perseverance and  my pride. Usually, pride leads to trouble, but in my quit, I was too proud to fail!!!

You will get over your dependence one day at a time so long as you do stay puff free. Some come-to very fast, some of us take a little longer. The journey in getting over nicotine dependence is ALWAYS worth it. Always. No exceptions.

I read everything I could find about nicotine addiction, I went to Whyquit.com and came to this site every morning and every evening...it was my NEW addiction.  I read blogs and commented and took advice when it was offered.  I honestly believe that education, support, and commitment will help more than anything.  I never vaped and, from what I am hearing, I am seriously glad that I didn't.  There are a couple of people on the site who vaped and who are quitting.  I also ate SourPatch Kids, drank tons of water, and once I was able, I worked out.  Exercise is amazing for helping to get past the hard times of a quit.  I played computer games, watched funny videos, and I read and read and read...you can do this.

Welcome to EX,

Ellen
