Question about Quests

Mark‌ I was looking through quests and badges on my profile and see that I'm working on an Onboarding Quest.

I see I need to mark a document as helpful, but haven't seen that option on any documents I've opened. Am I missing it?

Thanks!

Donna

Moved this post to Community Help‌ since it is about how to use the site.

You can see a list of documents on the site.

Near the bottom of a document you should see two buttons like this:

Clicking should complete the quest. If it doesn't let me know. One other person has reported a problem designating a document as helpful to complete the quest.

Thanks. In order on the list you linked, I clicked on Join a Bonfire and Helpful Answer vs Likes - What's the Difference. There is no helpful button on either. When I clicked on Troubleshooting: Reply by Email, there was a helpful button.

DonnaMarie‌ Comments is turned off on Join A Bonfire‌. I wonder if you can't mark as helpful because comments are turned off.  Just a guess. I'll look into it more later.

Which begs the question - how does a "Document" get to be a "Document?"

YoungAtHeart‌ They are created as documents or are converted to documents(in Actions menu). Look under the Pencil icon for the Document option.

Think of a document as information that can be updated and added to. You've heard of Wikipedia. It's a online document viewable to others that informs and morphs over time.  Remember the old profiles where people would use their profile to document all the helpful content they had collected over time as a shortcut to their journey or things that really impacted them? Same concept but it's not on your profile. We have Best of EX which is a community cheat sheet to impactful blogs and discussions. You could create a document of the things that are really profound and personal to you. The Archived Profiles kind of do that. The cool things is that Documents are versioned so if you mess something up you can revert to a previous version so you don't lose your work. You can choose to work on a document alone or collaborate with others. I create nearly all the FAQs here on EX as documents.

Hope this helps!

DonnaMarie‌ Did you mark a document as helpful? I know one other person who tried to complete the quest but it wouldn't complete even though they had marked a document as helpful. An update from you would be helpful.

Thanks!

I did find one that had the "mark helpful" button and clicked it.

I still don't see the button one everything, but it's okay

Yes it appears if comments are turned off, which is the case in most of our documents it won't have the helpful button.

Try https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/docs/DOC-1134-ex-to-ex-instructions and mark helpful. Then I'll check your quest to see if it is completed.
