Give and get support around quitting

Update from new kid: I ran with it

All of your comments, your links, your experiences, your videos, EVERY bit of information you kind strangers shared with me, made me brave and I ran with it. I went from being so afraid that I had put two weeks on my quit date to stopping completely cold turkey yesterday at 6:30 pm. It's been roughly 27 hours since my last cigarette and I can honestly say it's been rough but rewarding and i feel strong. Thank you to all that inspired me, I promise one day at a time but NOPE for me!

Good for you!!!!! I quit cold turkey also, just ripped the bandaid right off. You are going to experience some crazy. My head felt like a kaleidoscope, my mind was befuddled for a good week. My body ached. But I googled what I was feeling and discovered it was all normal. I joined this site and blogged and these great people reached out to me and made me feel like family and that they were here for me.

You can can truly do this. I am at day 58 after smoking for 37 years. I never thought I would quit but here I am. Because I have truly committed to never smoke again it makes the challenges that I face every day easier as I know smoking is not an option. Be true to yourself, don’t take your quit lightly. There are no slip ups, just conscious decisions.

We we are here for you... be Amazing!!!!

YAY!!!  We are DOING IT!  Keep doing it.  It feels great to FEEL GREAT.  When you have a craving just know it will go away.  Breathe through it, distract yourself, do squats.  Do ANYTHING to get through it.

As you move forward, you might want to keep in mind that there is never a good reason to smoke; there are only excuses.

Here is a blog with early withdrawal symptoms so you understand what is normal:  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/best-of-ex/blog/2018/01/04/early-withdrawal-symptoms

One day at a time!

So happy to read this, amandamarek‌... they say planning your quit ahead of time is good, but too much time between decision and actual quit can give that nasty nic addict inside our brains time to formulate "reasons" to put off the start date.   As YoungAtHeart‌ said, there are NO reasons to smoke, only excuses that our inner addicts come up with. I've used them all myself, in the past, and so have most members here.

So therefore, I'm so glad you've jumped in and gotten your start.  It takes commitment, and knowledge, those are the real keys to the smoke-free kingdom.  That and one day at a time not putting things in your mouth and setting them on fire   .

Looking forward to you sharing your adventurous journey with us here!
