Quitting Again

Successfully quit smoking last year for 4 months and didn't miss it a bit.  However, there was a sudden death in my family and all of a sudden I was thrust to be in charge of everything.  Started smoking again to "get me through the stressful period" but am still smoking about 1/2 pack a day.  Have one left and want to rid myself of the whole business.  I quit before with the help of this community.  Blogged every day.  Almost scared to go back to read my blogs on the previous smoke-free journey.  So painful.  HELP!

Sorry for your loss. It sounds as if you've had a little time to come back together and are ready to quit.  Hop back in! You've got a new understanding this time around and build on it. Yes you can, one day at a time.

I put my last 3 under the faucet and didn't even plan to do it. I think it was like someone here dared me to do it. I figured if someone cared enough to make the dare then I could trust they would be here to help when the going got tough. I have almost 6 full days since that day and I don't regret it one bit.  Every day is getting easier.  I am blogging for exactly the reason you should read your blogs, to remember what it was like and to find that magic key hidden in your own words.  BE BRAVE. This is not the easy road, but it is the right road.  BE HAPPY. You are doing this for yourself, you are not doing this to yourself. Remember how you felt last year and be ready to be amazed at how awesome your life is about to be! Don't let a weed, a stupid plant dictate to you the rest of your life. You got this! And we got you!

Peace...

M.

You aren’t kidding.  Staying connected and knowing there are people out there reading and replying is great comfort.  As you mentioned about yourself, I do not discuss how painful or distracting quitting smoking is with anyone.  I do not know anyone who smokes anymore and therefore feel ashamed that I continued to smoke, quit, relapsed, quit, relapsed, etc., etc. The EX Community is my only support.

I did the same thing last year.  I quit for 7 months and was very active in this community.  A drastic life change, and back to the evils.  I'm now on day 138 and very happy to have been able to kick these things.  A different mindset this time so I know I won't go back.  I believe that sometimes we NEED to fail a test to learn how to Ace it with a 100%

You learned what triggered a D- on the last test, now you have an expandable set of tools and the continued support of everyone here.  Keep studying even if it's one question or potential question on the 'test' and practice that one part and you will make progress to that A+ before you know it.

Sending my support and hugs!

Welcome back...please read everything that has been recommended and please stay close to the site.  That is really the secret...that and NOPE, Not One Puff Ever OR "I don't do that any more" courtesy of JonesCarpeDiem‌ OR "One step, and then another, will get you to where you want to be."  courtesy of OldBones-Larry‌.  We are all here to help you.  Please accept that smoking really does nothing FOR you but it can do a whole lot TO you.

Glad you are back,
