Worried about quit date

I do really want to quit smoking; but I am not looking forward to my quit date which is August 31st! I am afraid that I won’t be able to quit on that date and it is causing me to have anxiety!

Are there any suggestions that can help me?

Thank you

The BOOK was/is the BOMB!!  I stopped smoking a few days before I discovered the book on Amazon and even before I found this site.  It had changed my LIFE!!!

Take what you want, and leave the rest...

If you are waiting for the "perfect time" to quit, you will never quit.  There is never a "perfect time" to do anything, because everything in life is in constant motion and change.  Only you can work on perfecting how you accept the change needed to make your quit one that will last forever.

COMMIT to the date; COMMIT to the quit; COMMIT to yourself.  When you wake up this Friday morning, cigarettes should be gone, preferably destroyed and removed from the premises.  Ashtrays should be gone, washed, dried and put up for some other use besides holding nasty cancer butts.  Take a shower to get that rank smoke smell from your body and hair on Thursday night just before bed.  Put clean sheets on your bed, so you will have everything smelling fresh for you when you wake up Friday morning.

Friday will be a new day for you - just do it!

(((((hug))))) for you,

Grammy25‌ , you are most welcome.

Is that your granddaughter in your photo?  She is a beautiful little girl.  You would be a good role model for her to never want to pick up and smoke a cancer stick.

After you have been quit for 24 hours, you would not believe how your body will start responding to the freedom from poisons it had been exposed to.  You will not believe how you will be able to smell things you forgot all about.  You will be able to taste the true flavor of food.  You will get that second wind you forgot you had.  You will have a whole lot more money in your pocket, as cancer sticks are totally out of sight in cost now.  The list goes on.  One day at a time, you stand by your commitment to remain smokefree, and you will love yourself for doing so.

I invite you to give it a try.  You surely have nothing to lose.  Just do it, and start reaping the benefits of the new and improved YOU!

As my quit date drew near  I wondered if I would really follow through. I'd made a plan, was pretty much ready to try, but I was still a smoker and had been for many decades. I wondered if I would double back on my commitment and just crumble when the first real desire to smoke arrived.

I set a few booby traps for myself to cause me pause for thought: I decided that if I did turn tail and run back that I would buy a pack of cigarettes that I detested. I meant it. I meant that I would not be slinky back to my brand all guilty but happy to suck on my favorites. I meant that I could have a cigarette that I hated if it came to that and that while doing so, I'd stick right with planning. I had no intention to smoke. I just didn't want any cracks in my resolve to be easy (oh, guess I can't handle quitting, guess I gotta smoke kind of easy).

I also bought a vaping cigarette (kind of like a blanky) which I also did not intend to use. Again, I won't a less likeable solution  should I find my psychology getting weak.

But I did quit, no vape, no hated brand. I stuck to my goal (came to Ex several years later) and kept working tools that I'd chosen to help me get smober.

Ex is a wonderful tool, Grammy. Here you can bring your joys, sorrows and anger too. As smokers, it is so hard to believe that we can get over the addiction, but each and everyone of us really can. No exceptions.

Don't get trapped in I'll quit tomorrow (which never comes). Your chosen date August 31 will come, but it that day doesn't suit three days in advance, then what day will.

Stay busy checking rechecking your plans and give your self two big thumbs up.
