NML & Inbetweener Weekly Check In - Quititude - 7/30/2018

We have this discussion every Monday to offer encouragement and camaraderie to those in NML, basically months 2-3-4 of a quit and for those who have not yet reached the 6% Club (1 year quit). Regardless of how long you’ve been quit, anyone who likes the conversation and wants to offer support is welcome to participate!

We are happy if you just stop by to say hi and let us know you are still with us in NML.  Feel free to offer up ideas on topic question and I will include them in next week’s post!  Stop by daily or as often as you like!  Don’t forget to post to the Daily Pledge!

This week’s topic: Quititude!

Gratitude...what differences have you noticed since you became a non-smoker.  What are you grateful for?

My list goes on and on…  I wrote a blog not too long ago about Quititude where I list some some of the positives since I have quit smoking.  My blog on Quititude

Quititude.  Great word. It feels like sass, and out-loudness, "here I am, world" kind of thing. But more than that, it's the underlying foundation of who-I-am as a nonsmoker.

Also great is Quietude, which is different, but not opposite.  It can still be sassy, if quieter than out loud. Like in inward smile, a knowing nod, a raised eyebrow.

I feel like my Quititude is currently infused with Quietude.  I may at some point be more out loud, but at the moment I'm not. But, regardless, the foundation is the same.

I am grateful for my quit.  I'm surprised daily that I making this journey and am happy with my progress.  I'm now venturing outside my comfort zone and trying new things.  I'm now walking and played golf for the first time saturday.  Becoming more confident.  Hope everyone hangs on tight to their quit.  Have a great week.

Good morning all!  Okay, so NML is from 30-130?  So technically I should be out of it at 148 DOFs?  Shoot.  I think the last few weeks my Quitatude is totally challenged.  Just last night I was hit with a strong urge to smoke....I thought NOPE!  I utilized the tools the elders on this site have shared, I redirected my thinking and decided to do some chore type things to get my mind on something else. It passed, I feel different today.  I have been having this odd sporadic anxiousness.....like a weird something's missing feeling.  It's extremely annoying.  When I start thinking that way I remind myself....you know what's missing, wheezing, stinky fingers, stained teeth, ashtrays, hiding to smoke, obsessing on my next smoke....those are all missing and good riddance!  I'm going through fertility treatments right now too so my hormones are all whacked.  I have to constantly remind myself that my feelings are NOT facts.   This too shall pass.  I initially found the willingness to quit because we had an upcoming appointment with a Fertility doctor and now that we're in the thick of it and it's not going seamlessly...my addiction is definitely picking on my weakness.

I have been plagued with the thoughts that if we complete treatment and don't end up with child....should I start smoking?  A lot smaller part of me says yes than expected.  I mostly think NO!   Smoking is gross and I finally shook it and I am FINALLY FREE!!!!  And I know I won't be able to quit again.  So I think NO, I won't start smoking!  If I start smoking again it has to be with full knowing that I won't ever be able to stop.  This is my one shot.

Anyway, I'm sorry my quittude is crazy right now!  But hey...I'm still an EX and I'm still Quit.  I'm taking it back to basics.   Hope you all have a good day.

Danielle 148 DOF!

According to our entirely made up rules, you're technically in the In-Between. No Man's Land to the 6% who make it to a year, in other words. I'm there, too. So let's make up our own stuff about it!  Like, they aren't really cravings anymore, they're more like memories of smoking that we can shake off.  And we're so far into our quits (I have over 200 DOF!) that it would be crazy-pants to start over. Right?

Hi AnnetteMM‌!  Agreed!  I am now 155 days (5 months + 2 days).  It's crazy!  I canNOT believe I am an ex-smoker for this long.  I've never every made it more than a day or two.  I appreciate you!  thank you for being on this site and sharing your experience!
