Give and get support around quitting

I slipped today.

I slipped today. After 7 days, I couldn’t fight the urge any longer today, all I wanted to do was drink some beers and smoke! How can I control this? I did so good all week, but I talked myself into it and there was no way of changing my mind.

How can I talk myself back into being a good girl and say NO??

I'm sorry you have to go through Day One again.

I would like to point you to this:  https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/best-of-ex/blog/2017/09/20/a-slip-is-not-a-fall?sr=search&...‌  Set yourself up for success.  elvan is correct that this is a journey so craves will happen and you will have to be willing to learn to deal and accept them without succumbing to them.

JonesCarpeDiem‌ Says the only way out is through.  You made a choice to have that smoke.  Next time, make the choice not to.  I can assure you there will be a next time.  You need to deal with next time differently.  You have to go through those craves to get out of them.

Someone once told me a craving lasts 7 seconds.  You may have one craving on top of the next which make it seem like they never end, but they are only 7 seconds.  Surely you can count to 7 and get through them one at a time.

We will always be here to support you no matter what.  You may not like what everyone has to say, but know we are always here to help.

Not much I can add to these awesome replies you got except to give you a couple of quotes that I kept nearby to remind me of the moment and the goal I wanted to obtain so badly , they are :

IMG_2642.JPG And......Unknown-2.jpeg

IMG_2943.JPG And....it-will-hurt.jpgYES!

SPEAKING OF ME HERE.....I relapsed a lot at the beginning of my quit. I didn't stay focused on education myself on my quit. I got complacent and therefore I failed and relapsed. Each and every relapse I went through...I pretty much talked myself into. FOR ME , it was never a slip. I didn't fall on ice or a slippery surface. I didn't have anyone force feed me a cigarette. I knew well and good what I was doing and it did not happen out of no-where.

FOR ME...this crazy cycle stopped when I became accountable and put action to my words and got busy educating myself on this site and applied the knowledge passed to me by all the wonderful people here at EX.

FOR ME...those quotes above were a reminder of where I came from and where I wanted to be and a positive influence to provoke me each day of the goal, which was NO MORE....No more excuses, I still use these quotes to build up there areas in my life where I need change. They are powerful.

It ( quitting) was work. It was worth it. YOU are worth it. Look at the support you got to your blog. We are here for you. Now cinch up that saddle and lets get'er done!
