QUIT smoking while depressed and stressed

How do we cope.  How do we feel. How do we react

Be careful with how many lozenges you use.  A cigarette contains about 1 mg of nicotine - check the dosage on the lozenges and be sure you are getting the correct amount.

Be sure to GET BUSY when a craving hits.  Change up your routines so the associations/triggers are reduced  Drink LOTS of water, go for a walk if you can, or march in place.

Come here and read and read some more.

You CAN do this!  We can help!

Get as much dopamine as you can any way you can:

Meditate, eat healthy, take good care of yourself. If you can't think to do it for you then do it for your child's sake.

Dopamine - the Double Edged Blade

You have it within you to do this! We're here to make suggestions and provide support!

    How do we cope?

On day one (especially) it's best to stay occupied with things you like to do OR are willing to do. This is all about putting one foot in front of the other even when you do not feel like it because it is about quitting the cigarettes first and foremost. Try to keep that in focus.

How to react, how to feel, that comes with time and how you adjust. Quitting may not be easy, but it is doable.

You wrote a bio on your homepage. A great start in joining the community. You've listed your reasons for wanting to quit so stay focused on those reasons. Keep blogging, keep reading. I'm sure there will be others who come along to respond to you who will have something to say about depression and quitting that you can get something out of.

Welcome to EX. Yes you can get smober, one day at a time.

You can do this!  I'll be joining in on a quit, in 2 days.  You will be in my many prayers.  Reach out to every resource you can, for whatever support you need for your illness.

A healing light for you to gather strength, calm, and all that you may need.

I cope by putting it off most times forget about it then. Sometimes if the thought to smoke won't leave I really think about smoking how it goes in my lungs and why I wanted to quit in the first place. So far it's been working.
