From what I read, you would simply be moving from one addiction to another.....with less harmful side effects.....but an addiction nonetheless.  Snus is just a different nicotine delivery system.  Smoking addiction has two parts - physical and psychological.  Nicotine is actually out of your system fairly quickly when you quit, and then it takes a bit of time for your body to adjust to life without it. Using snus, you would still be a nicotine addict.  You would not be smoking to get your fix, but you would still be an addict.

If you want to be truly free, the nicotine patch would allow you to wean yourself down while conquering the psychological aspects of smoking.  My personal opinion is that this would be a better quit smoking aid.

Nancy it's a social problem . burning lungs with smoke. I read that it has been used in cessation as well. it's nicotine is quite low. what's difference between nic gum and snus. it's not only addiction problem but also lifestyle problem. needs to see broader picture.

I have to agree with Nancy on this. I used "dip" for years.

Snus and bandits are dips just as the loose stuff is.

These products contain super concentrated nicotine. There is more in them than any smoking material.

They are the #1 cause of gum and oral cancers.

They "burn" the cheek lining and the gums where they are placed so a "callous" is created.

The first teeth I lost were at the sites I always tucked my "chew".

Any nicotine product is hazerdous to your health and will kill you in the end.

My two cents, take it or leave it.

My advice might apply to you and anyone else who happens by in the future.  It's my take and mine only.  It's why I say, "my personal opinion."  I don't claim to know what is best for everyone.  Take what you need and leave the rest.

I share YoungAtHeart‌'s opinion.  Did you read the warnings on the link you attached?  It's addictive and can cause all kinds of problems, it opens you up to many of the same risks as smoking.  Why would you want to do that?  Wait, I understand, you are looking for an easy way...quitting and staying off all nicotine products may not be easy but it gets easier and it is SO WORTH it.  It is so much better for your health...why would anyone want to be an addict?

It's NOT worth it.  No form of nicotine is "safe."  All nicotine is addictive.

Please understand that you CAN be free.  You need to stop searching for easy ways to quit.  You need to convince yourself that you do not need to have nicotine in your system.  You are no different from any of us.

Here are some things to consider:

Health Risks of Smokeless Tobacco

Smokeless tobacco (snus) is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes: results from five ...

You will believe what you will believe and find plenty of sources that will say what you want.

But to me, it comes down to this

Would you rather take arsenic or cyanide?

Nicotine is poison and addictive. Nobody can honestly say otherwise.

Facts not opinion.
