Give and get support around quitting

Huge waves of fatigue!

I'm on day 13 of my quit and have been fighting with huge waves of fatigue this week. I've been falling asleep on the sofa right after dinner  ,   go to bed early and still feel tired all day!! I am getting several walks in a day and eating well.

I hope this is just my body healing and adjusting....but it is challenging to deal with this dull foggy mind and sluggish body. I had so much great energy during the first week! (It seems that I've had increasing fatigue and depression as the weeks/ months progress during previous quits).

Thanks for any advice or support:)

Addiction is tricky, isn't it?  If other things did not work...it will keep trying for a while.  You CAN do this and it WILL get better.

Anya‌ I am so happy for you, keeping your quit.  The fatigue will pass...it is frustrating, I know.  It will get easier and you are going to feel stronger and stronger.

Hang in there, I am a newbie to and the fatigue hits every now and then. I find that if I reward myself at noon with a pepsi, it helps get me through. But yes, the caffiene is needed! Stay strong and take a little walk or hang out on here with the rest of us. I find that being on here also helps in many many ways!. Love this group of ours!!!!

I agree Tra119‌, a walk and visiting this site are so important to the success of my quit. So grateful to have found this group!

Anya, Nicotine Addiction steals your dopamine reward system. Recovery can become much easier when you find as many ways as possible to put dopamine back in your Life!

Look at things in your lifestyle that you can add little by little and soon you won't have to look - you will get that balance back!

I have to tell you Thomas3.20.2010‌, your blogs on dopamine were some of the first posts that I read on this site. You had me sold, and it motivated me to boost my dopamine! You gave concrete advice how to do this, and I try to apply your suggestions everyday. It helps!! And I also am supplementing with L-tyrosine each morning. I'm a lifelong student of the neurosciences, and love learning about the brain. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom:)

Anya  Sooooo, if my math is correct and it is entirely possible that it's NOT...you are around 18 days or so???  How are you doing, has the overwhelming fatigue let up at all?  Wouldn't it be nice if we could get some of the energy we had when we were younger?  I used to be able to run on very little sleep and be very productive.  NOW, I need LOTS of sleep and I am STILL not productive or not as productive as I WANT to be.  I suspect that my energy level is the best I can expect it to be, particularly given the stress that surrounds this time of year.

Sending you good thoughts.

Thanks so much for checking in elvan‌. It really is appreciated. The good, no great news, is that my energy levels have increased and I'm even sleeping better. But it is taking focus and commitment to taking care of myself, such as dealing with stress more proactively, getting to bed earlier and taking some supplements (plus eating healthily and exercise). I know the fatigue could come back, because our bodies are really working hard on detoxing and healing.

I hope that you're not overwhelmed with stress this season. You always seem to have such a positive attitude, and that is such a blessing for yourself and all those you touch.

Hugs,

Anya
