Global search and replace

Jump to solution

Is there any way to do a global search and replace for blogs such as this:  Are you "trying" to quit?, can you "try" and read this?   to eliminate the coding gobbledeegook â€œ   or other similar coding oddments.  "To make an effort”. Interesting. Do you “try” to take a shower? Do you “try” to tie a shoe?"

If not,  can we who are interested in maintaining the originals so that they're readable, have permission to edit them and edit OUT the Greek looking stuff? (Sorry, but I don't know what the term is for the strange symbols.)

I'll get them cleaned up as fast as I can..  It's a manual process, no magic way to do it all at the same time.

Here is a Word version that I edited if that helps.  I took out the link in the original post labeled "joe4320 Smoke Away Support" as it led to a virus infected site.

This post really speaks to me.  I've written similar words about "Try" vs. "Quit" a few times.  That mindset is what has protected this quit compared to all my past failed attempts.  See there my choice of words?  I didn't say past "quits", I said past "attempts".  I had always set my self up for failure from the beginning by thinking of it as "trying to quit" vs "deciding to quit".

I don't see your word version...am I missing something?  I don't know what that coding stuff is called either but it IS seriously annoying.

It is an attachment to my post.  I see it at the bottom left corner, right above the "Actions" menu button.

I see it, I was opening it from my inbox and I had to go to the original post to see it. Try, hope, wish...none work with quitting, you really have to just DO IT!

Thanks Tom TW517‌  Appreciate your doing that.  I knew how to do a global replace on my own content, but was really asking Mark if there was a way it could be done site-wide.  (Hope you didn't get a virus yourself from that site.)

Mark‌ Thanks for cleaning up his post.

elvan‌  Would never have known that there was an attachment as I usually look at things from my inbox area also.  Didn't know that the limited functionality also included not being able to see any attachments.

It's frustrating...I tend to look at the original post if someone MENTIONS something about a picture or something that they want us to see...I have run into it more than once.

elvan‌ Some of the content that was posted previously isn't supported any longer on the internet or poses security risks. When we migrated, some content was removed that fit in these two categories.  It's not perfect and on occasion I find things that I have to remove.

For any new content that is posted, it should display.  I have noticed on occasion there are old posts with Glitter Graphics (Twinkling images) that are displaying and may contain malware.  Fortunately contemporary browsers like Google Chrome protect you and don't display potentially damaging images.  So head warnings if you see them and then let me know with a link so I can remove anything like that.
