re: points and levels

Hi Mark I like gaining points and going up levels. I find it encouraging and it makes me feel generous giving some points away.  I had a really good day here yesterday and was 27 points short of level 6. Today I am still on level 5 with 3,623 points and a staggering 2,977 points short of level 6. There's got to be a spanner in the works surely?

I'm sorry you are disapPOINTed with not reaching level 6. I've been her since B.P. (8/2009) and only reached level 13. I have to get almost 40,000 to get to level 14. I'm not smoking over it.

I just went to the leader board and found neither Nancy nor I have received any points in almost a week while Ellen and Marilyn have so something is broken.

I've never understood points.  I kind of get how I receive them by posting, people liking my posts, etc.  But how do you give them to people?

You go to the bottom left of a response you like and you'll see the word actions.  You can give them a badge with or without points.

If they wrote the post you can hover over their avatar and a popup will have a way to give them a badge and poits or no points.

Are the badges you can give unlimited?

Oh, OK.  Duh.  I've done that before.  I guess I just thought I was giving a badge, and there was another way to just give points away.  Thanks!

So, I just found the Leaderboard, and saw the right hand part of the page with all my individual statistics.  Embarrassed to say I've been very stingy with points given away.  Is there a sort of unofficial protocol for when we should give points?  I only remember giving some "Congrats" badges to people on Milestone achievements.  When I've "Liked" or found "Helpful" a post, I assumed that person got points without me giving them away.  But would those occasions be an appropriate time to give points?
