Day 9

Tonight will be 9 days of not smoking. The last couple days I've been craving even more than I did the few days before. Blehhh. Tonight I'm wondering if I'm going to stick with this, if it's worth it. I kind of thought it would be getting easier...

It does get easier. I quit last year Oct 17th, slipped and smoked most of the day Oct 30th and reset my quit to Oct 31st. You are in that area/time frame where the mental Nic demon is working hard to make you think "why bother" and to light up again. Keep your self busy, find ways to distract your thinking, drink lots of water. You can do this. I made it 10 1/2 months after that before starting up again..I am still kicking myself, but I did quit again. I am on day 10 and yes the last couple of days had me asking myself why I quit. I don't smoke, so why would I light one up? It is not worth it. Keep reading and reaching out

You probably smoked for quite awhile....did you really expect your freedom from addiction to only take nine days?  I won't lie and tell you it's only going to be a few more - because everybody is different.  The more you work at changing up your routines, replacing triggers with NEW relationships, the faster that day will come.  But - you DO have to work at this; keep busy, keep your mind thinking POSITIVE thoughts.  Everybody wanted to smoke in the beginning.  We just chose not to; for it IS a choice.

Get busy, think of how great your freedom from addiction is going to be, think how wonderful it is going to be not to have to think about quitting anymore, think about being able to be present in all that you do instead of looking for that chance to get your fix.  I guarantee you that if you stick with this, you will experience a freedom that you will cherish.

I promise you that all the discomfort will be worth it.

As JonesCarpeDiem says quitting is doable.  You have to be willing to do it.  Hang in there.  Time does the trick and you will feel more confidence each day you win.

What are your reasons for quitting?  Did you write them down?  You might want to think about the reasons you wanted to start this journey.

Good job--stick with it! It's worth it! Hang in there. You can do it! Don't give in and you'll never regret staying with your quit. It will get easier but it takes time.

You are early in your quit.  It's not easy, but it will get easier.   There are different stages to this journey, so give yourself time to adjust.  Yes, it is worth it.  Reach out when you need some support.  That's what we're here for.
