Let's Get Moving 2018

It is a New Year.  To eliminate difficulty finding where to comment due to the length of the last blog, I thought I would start a new page to have a fresh start.  New Year, Fresh Ideas,New Goals ,Reboot, Recharge.  Hopefully New Participants  For those who are able to, (some members are going through medical issues and pending surgeries) I think it is time to focus and get back to our challenges.

'The original idea was to "get moving" at least 4 times a week, staying accountable to each other.  Post your accomplishments in the comments.   Any activity counts, as long as you get off your butt and get your heart pumping.  Who knows, maybe we'll lose a little weight or a couple of inches in the meantime.  I am doing a shout out to those who previously participated. If I missed someone please add their name.  There were a lot of comments to go  through to come up with this list.   We had a lot of fun and learned a lot from each other with over 2519 comments.

Of course I have met my #Challenge for this week.   Looking forward to hearing what others are doing in the snow storm.

GREAT IDEA JACKIE!

"Of course I have met my #Challenge for this week."    Nya Nya Nya Nya Nya!  Youuuuuuuu!   lol   I'm THINKING about getting back to formal exercising.  I did sharpen my chain saw yesterday in preparation for tackling stage 2 of the tree felling that was done several months back.  Since the ground is currently frozen here, I figured the logs  would be too.  And I don't need that added burden.  Will let you know when I start what, when.  Does sanding down all my tools count for a little arm exercise?  NOT!  (Well, not for me anyway.)

JACKIE1-25-15‌     "Of course I have NOT met my #Challenge for this week"!!!!!!! I promise to do better next week. But I did read somewhere that you burn extra calories just trying to stay warm. If that is the case, I'm in great shape.

And by the way-----some people call this weather a polar vortex cyclone weather bomb. Here in NEPA we call it...........January.

Yeah Yeah, Hear that on the news.  Here in Virginia it is a BLIZZARD!

Thanks for the shout out. Maybe this will get me off my butt. I keep saying “ I’ll start tomorrow”. Tomorrow has come and gone a few times. Lol

JACKIE1-25-15‌  Ha ha! We must listen to the same station! My daughter lives in Virginia now....but since she lived in Colorado for 15 years and in PA since she was born......she also laughs at what Virginians call a blizzard.

Hello! I have no challenges set although my Fitbit thinks I do. It buzzes and vibrates at me all the time it even tells me to get rolling but my apartment is to small to be rolling around and it is to cold and wet outside so I ignore that rolling around exercise.  I do have a nice path by me for my walks and runs. Most days I get close to the 10,000 steps in so not to shabby. No blizzards, no snow out here. Be safe it out there in your winter wonderland of snow!

I really miss chopping wood....it was such a great work out. So for now I will just enjoy reading about Giulia and her wood adventures. Someday I will be back at it...

and then there are times I forget that I used to be a smoker... sorry.. my mind likes to wander around in it thoughts..

Quick update on Matthew. His last MRI showed tumor growth so they will be trying another chemo med on him. He is doing ok. His short term memory loss is challenging but it is what it is and just do the best we can.

tjanddj‌ I am really sorry to hear that Matthew's last MRI showed growth, I was so hoping that it would at least hit a plateau and allow him some recovery time.  This has to be so hard for both of you, my heart goes out to you and you are both in my prayers every single day.

I am back to doing my ten miles on the bike along with a few minutes of upper body strengthening using the bike as an arm bike.  The first day was a serious challenge but I am on the third day and I really am feeling good about getting back to it.  I NEED to keep going. I work on Saturday so I will work out tomorrow and then take the weekend off and get back to it on Monday.  I want to get back to using my weights but I haven't tried that yet because the bike takes me about an hour and the arm portion adds another ten minutes to my workout time.  I need to do SOME other things...

Good to see people back here, thanks for cleaning up the site, Jackie and for refreshing everything.
