The Journey Continues  Day 4

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

MADE TO LAST FOREVER

God has planted eternity in the human heart. Ecclesiastes 3:11

You have an inborn instinct that longs for immortality.  This is because God designed you in his image to live for eternity.  Even though we know that everyone dies, death seems unnatural and unfair.  Your earthly body is just a temporary residence for your spirit.  II Corinthians 5:1 refers to the earthly body as a "tent" and your heavenly body as a house.

II Corinthians 5:1  For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Eternity offers two choices...heaven or hell.  Your relationship with God on earth determines your relationship to Him in eternity.  If you learn to love and trust God's Son, Jesus you will be invited to spend the rest of eternity with Him.

On the other hand, if you reject his love, forgiveness, and salvation you will spend eternity apart from God forever.

When you fully comprehend that there is more to life than just here and now you realize life is just preparation for eternity and you will begin to live differently.  You will start living in light of eternity which will affect how you handle every relationship, task, and circumstance.  Problems that seemed so important will appear trivial, petty and unworthy of your attention.  The closer to God the smaller everything else appears.  Living in the light of eternity changes our values.  Your time and money will be used more wisely.  Priorities will be reordered.  Relationships and character are more important than wealth, fame and achievements or fun.   Trends, fashion, and popular values won't matter as much.

Death is not termination but a transition into eternity.  To make the most of our lives we much keep the vision of eternity in our minds and the value of it in our hearts.  God has a purpose for your life on earth but it doesn't end here.  If you have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ there is no need to fear death.  Death is the door to eternity.   Our time on earth is a blink of an eye compared to eternity.  The deeds of this life are the consequences of the next.

Verse to Remember

1 John 2:17

The world and its desires pass away but whosoever does the will of God lives forever.

Ecclesiastes 3: 11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end

Philippians 3: 7

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:9

However, as it is written:“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”the things God has prepared for those who love him

Matthew 25:34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

For one will plant a seed, another will water, but God will give the increase.  Amen

New Day"For the Good"

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jun 25, 2018

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. —Romans 8:28

All things are not good.  The death of a child, cancer, drug addiction, war is not good, blasphemy is not good but God can take things that are bad and put them in The infinite place of His wisdom and love. He works all things together for good, and He gives us the glorious, wonderful promise that He will do so.  We know that we have victory over sin and over Satan, but this verse in Romans teaches us that we also have victory over our circumstances. It says that all things work together for good.

Here are five things about this promise in Romans 8:28 so that we can see how God works together to help us rise above our circumstances.

Certainty
The first thing is the certainty of the promise.  “We know.” We can be certain. We live by His promises, not conjecture, not perhaps, not maybe; this is an ironclad certainty, not a hope, not a vague opinion.

Completeness
The second thing is the completeness of the promise: God is a teacher who, by our standards, seems strange. He gives the test first, and then He gives the lesson. We learn through affliction. Think about Joseph in the Bible. Think of all the terrible things that happened to Joseph. He was maligned by his brothers. He was thrown into a pit and sold as a slave; he was lied about and accused of rape. Then he languished in prison. But Joseph, as he looked back, said something that is much like Romans 8:28. Talking to his brothers, Joseph said, “As for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive.”Genesis 50:20

Cause
The third thing is the cause of the promise: Don’t get the idea that things inherently, in and of themselves, automatically work for good. In his Letter to the Ephesians Paul clarifies this point: “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will.” If there were not a God in glory, there would not be the promise of Romans 8:28 in the Bible. God is not dead. He is alive and well. He’s not sick. He’s not worn out. He’s not even old. It is God who made this promise. He is the cause of it.

 Condition
The fourth thing is the condition of the promise. It’s not automatic. “The condition is that we must be lovers of God. Haters of God cannot claim this promise. The first and great commandment is, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Deuteronomy 6:5

Consequences
The fifth is the purpose of the promise. It is about those who are called according to His purpose. What is His purpose? In Romans 8:28-29 we read, “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.” That’s the key. To make us like Jesus. To be conformed to the image of His Son. There is no higher good than to be like the Lord Jesus Christ.

New Day "Stay Connected"

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jun 23, 2018

Good Morning, What a beautiful day the Lord has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it.

Before I rose this morning I asked God,  What is the message for today?  He quickly answered. "I am the true vine".

I said to myself okay Lord.   Again, I reminded myself that I am not in control. It is the will of the Spirit that I must follow.   I started reading scripture and commentaries and realized that the message is very in-depth to break down into the usual short blog.  The more I read and listened to the reading, the more heartwarming it became and was directed to give it just like it is.  It is simple enough for those who have ears to hear God's spoken word.

John 15:1-11

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He [a]takes away, and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you[b] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

NKJV

Today God is creating a newness in me.   It is a Joy that will extend to others.  I am not to mistake it for something that I am doing but what the Holy Spirit wills.   I am not to take credit but to watch in delight as the Spirit flows from me to others.  I am not to try and control it. I pray, to God through Jesus Christ to prune me that I forgive those who trespass against me.

In Jesus Name Amen.

This is the day that the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118:24

There are days when we don't feel glad.  If we talk to God about how we truly feel, you will find He will give you a reason to rejoice.  "Our prayers can end in praise".  Begin this day with an open faith by forgetting the past and reaching to those things which are ahead.  Find Joy in THIS day, and not focus on tomorrow or get caught up in the past. We all have done things of which we are ashamed. Forgive yourself and others to move forward. Let go of the past of guilt and look toward what God will help us become.   New insert 6/23/2018  We have all been hurt. We have been lied on, talked about, abused, scorned, etc. How we respond to those misdeeds is our choice. We can forever burden our hearts by constantly reliving the hurts or we can release the hurts, forgive our offenders, and move on. Carrying the hurts keep us in bondage. Releasing them gives us freedom. Bondage or freedom? The choice is yours!

Hebrew 3:13

Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today" so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians:

Philippians  3:13-14

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended but one thing I do. Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching to those things which are ahead. (14) I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call to God in Jesus Christ

NKJV

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

NIV

Today God is creating something new in me.  It is a Joy that will extend to others.  I am not to mistake it for something that I am doing but what the Holy Spirit wills.   I am not to take credit but to watch in delight as the Spirit flows from me to others.  I am not to try and control it.  I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 3: 5-6  Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.[a

In response to whatever is happening in your life on this journey, try saying "I trust you, Jesus."  Then think about His Power and Glory and the Love he has for you.   This simple practice will help you see Him in every situation.  Trusting and acknowledging His sovereignty and control over all matters, fear will lose its grip.  Adverse circumstances become growth opportunities when you affirm your trust in Him "no matter what."  You will be grateful knowing that your blessings flow directly from Him.  It will strengthen your relationship and keep you close to Him.   Make "I trust you Jesus"  your NEW mantra.  I would not have made it this far without His help.

Isaiah 26:4

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself is the Rock eternal. NIV

Psalms 37:5-6

Commit your way to the Lord;  trust in him and he will do thisHe will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. NIV

Psalms 115:11

You who fear Him, Trust in the  Lord, He is their help and shield.

Today God continues to mold a new creature in me.  It is a joy that will extend to others.  I am not to mistake it for something that I am doing but what the Holy Spirit wills.   I am not to take credit but to watch in delight as the Spirit flows from me to others.  I am not to try and control it.  I pray, Amen

New Day "Perfect Peace"

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jun 20, 2018

Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:  because he trusteth in thee

Isaiah 26:3  (KJV)

We tend to make mental list or checklist of things we have or want to do to have some type of control/order over our lives. If we could check everything off our list we could relax and be at peace.  However, the more we work to accomplish the goals, the more things are put on the list.  The harder we try the more frustrated we may become.

There is a better way to find order in this life.  Instead of constantly monitoring our checklist we should focus our attention on the Presence of God which will keep us in His Perfect Peace.  Allow God to sort out what is important and what is not, what needs to be done now and what does not.  Seek, live and breathe His Peace.

John 14:27  Peace  I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. NIV

Hebrews 3:1  And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God's messenger and High Priest.  NLT

II Corinthians 4:18  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. NKJ

Today God is creating something new inside of me.  It is a Joy that passes all understanding.  It will extend to others.  I am not to mistake it for something that I am doing but what the Holy Spirit wills.   I am not to take credit but to watch in delight as the Spirit flows from me to others.  I am not to try and control it.  I pray,  Amen.

Come with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed.  A close walk with God is a life of continual change.  Seek Him with an open mind, knowing that your journey involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing your attention to His Presence. God knows the future and his plans for us are good and full of hope.

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable will of God.

NKJV

Jeremiah 29:11-14

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

NIV

Psalms 27:8

When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

NKJV

Thought for today

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 NIV

Today is a new day.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Laughter lightens your load.  Your laughter rises to the heavens and blends with Angel's melodies.

Relax and know that I am God. Stop trying to monitor things that are beyond your control. Take the weight off your shoulder and rest on Me.  I rejoice when you trust Me.  Do not miss the Joy of My Presence.

Learn to Laugh at yourself.

Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart does good medicine, a broken spirit dries the bones. Laughter is the Best Medicine

Matthew 11:29-30

Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your soul.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Thought for today:

"God with us."

Happy Father's  Day.

New Day-Stay on the Road

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jun 15, 2018

Thank God for another day of freedom.

Many voices clamor for your attention, trying to divert you to another path.  But I have called you to walk ever so closely with Me.  Soaking in my Presence, living in My Peace.  This is My unique design for you, planned before the world began. Stay on the road with Me.

I have called each of my children to a different path, distinctly designed for that one.  Be careful not to consider your path as superior to another's way.  What I require of you is to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Me---

Wherever I lead.

Scripture John 14:27  Ephesians 2:10  Micah 6:8

A thought for today

Look upon each day as a new gift to breath life and a new opportunity to offer support of one another and to serve.  We are not saved only for our own benefit, but to serve others and build up the church.

No Greater Love

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jun 14, 2018

Good morning. Each day is a new beginning.  I am thankful to God to see the sunrise, hear the birds sing, to see the windblown trees

God's word says:

I have loved you with an everlasting Love.

I have lifted you out of the sea of darkness.

I have wrapped my robe of righteousness around you.

I sing you a Love song whose beginning has no end.

Join me in singing My song.

Scripture: Jeremiah 31:3, Isaiah 61:10, I Peter 2:9

Thought for today

God reaches towards his people with kindness motivated by everlasting love.

He is eager to do the best for them if they are willing to let him.

New Day, New Way

Posted by JACKIE1-25-15 Jun 13, 2018

This group was created about 3 years ago.  The person that started the group left very shortly after creating it.  Just glancing through it looks as if the last blog created was 11/17 and the last comment was around 2/2018.  This morning while doing my devotions a light bulb for me to share came on.  I thought it would be best to share through this group.   The title was my thought when I started reading my daily devotional by Sarah Young with a subtitle Willingness. We hear that word around hear a lot.  I may not sure how this blog is going to go so bear with me because the lesson for me today is God is creating something new in me.  It is a Joy that will extend to others.  I am not to mistake it for something that I am doing but what the Holy Spirit wills.   I am not to take credit for it but to watch in delight as the Spirit flows from me to others.  I am not to try and control it.  I Pray that I do not.   My focus is to let it flow to bless others.  My part is to stay close and be open to all He is doing in me.  I am to ENJOY His presence which  permeates me with Love, Peace, Joy

Scripture readings for today

John 3:8, Proverbs 4:11 Galatians 5:22

Thought for today:

Let us not become conceited, provoking, and envying each other.

As indingrl.01.06.2011 says "take what you can us and leave the rest.
