Hello All,
I am having to start over today......I went for 7 days then caved. Today I begin again. A little about me I have dipped for 46 years I'm now 58 years old. I don't remember life without a dip in. I do ok with my quit till about the 7th through 10th day then I cave. My biggest problem is the finality of the quit. Its been a part of my life for so long I dont know how to experience life without it but know I must. My health is good but have pushed that envelope and taken that chance far too long now. How do you get past the finality of it in your mind so I can get to the other side....
Please help
Thanks
You only have to get through today (and sometimes this hour, or this minute) - then repeat. Don't think of it as forever; just think of it as "for now." Each day you get through will help you get to the time when it gets easier. Do some reading so you understand your addiction. You will probably be surprised at what you didn't know.
Find something to put in your mouth instead - maybe some licorice, or Fireballs, or Sour Patch Kids, or sugarfree gum or mints. Brush your teeth a LOT - and enjoy how fresh your mouth tastes. Keep a cold bottle of water handy from which to sip. It's helpful if you think about all you are gaining instead of lamenting losing that hit of dopamine.....because that's ALL nicotine does for you, and you can get that in other ways. It's important that you start in again NOW - just do it1
