Disabled: Troubleshooting: Reply by Email

In order to use the reply by email function on the community the email address on the outgoing message must match the address in your BecomAnEX.org account. If it doesn't match exactly then then the message won't have permission to be posted.

Common Issues:

1. If you use Gmail and you have added periods to your Gmail address when you signed up for BecomeAnEX.org it will not work when you reply by email.
   1. This is because Gmail ignores periods when you login or receive an email containing a period before the @ symbol. Gmail treats user.name@gmail.com the same as username@gmail.com however BecomeAnEX.org sees them as unique emails even though they deliver to your same inbox.
      1. You'll need to remove all periods unless they appear in your outgoing emails.
2. If you use Gmail and you have added a + sign to your email address.
   1. When Gmail delivers mail it ignores everything starting at the + up to the @ in gmail.com.
      1. You'll need to remove the + sign and everything up to the @.
3. Your email address has a subdomain or alias that is not reflected in the outgoing message.
   1. If you register with username@mail.domain.com but when you send mail it comes from username@domain.com the reply by email will fail.
      1. You'll need to update your email address to your outgoing mail address.
4. Your email address domain has changed, possibly due to a split or acquisition
   1. If your email address was username@bigcompany.com but then you got acquired by username@biggestcompany.com but still reply from your old email it will fail.
      1. You'll need to update your email address to your new mail address.
5. You forward your email (with POP3/IMAP4) to another address and respond from that other address.
   1. e.g. You have hotmail.com account and forward to an outlook.com and then respond from the outlook.com account.
      1. You'll need to update your email address to your outlook.com address in order to use reply by email.
6. You have your own domain with a catch-all address but you respond from a specific account.
   1. You created an account with becomeanex@johndoe.com but your email address is john.doe@johndoe.com.
      1. You'll need to update your email address to john.doe@johndoe.com in order to use reply by email.

To fix your email address:

1. Confirm the sending email address. Send an email to yourself and look at the from field to validate what it looks like.
2. Update the email address to that email in your BecomeAnEX.org account.
3. Log out of the community and back in.
4. Validate that the email address has updated on your profile.
